In one of the most emotional, controversial and unusual baseball games ever played, the Toronto Blue Jays used three Texas Rangers miscues and a Jose Bautista three-run homer to secure a 6-3 victory and their spot in the American League Championship Series. 

Everything happened in the seventh inning, which might actually be one of the understatements of the year, as the two teams were tied, 2-2, Wednesday.

A half-inning after the Texas Rangers scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning of Wednesday's Game 5 on a controversial call, Rogers Centre erupted again.

Just when you think baseball can't get any more weird and harder to understand, Game 5 of the American League Division Series between the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays happens.

In the top of the seventh inning, Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin was attempting to throw the ball back to the pitcher. His throw hit the bat of Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo, which allowed Rougned Odor to score the go-ahead run from third to give Texas a 3-2 lead.

The Kansas City Royals used two three-run innings and rode the arm of Johnny Cueto to a 7-2 victory over the Houston Astros in Game 5 of the American League Division Series at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday night. The Royals move on to play the Toronto Blue Jays in their second straight American League Championship Series appearance.

The Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4 on Tuesday night, winning the team's first National League Division Series title since 2003 in front of a raucous crowd at Wrigley Field.

Now, this is a life-giving sentence for Cubs fans, but it doesn't really do justice to how Chicago went about dispatching the league's winningest regular-season team.
