Series Preview: Injured or Not, Mets Must Win Homestand

Click your heels three times and say there’s no place like home. It was the longest road trip the Mets had so far this season, but it felt much longer then the ten day span it took.

When Will David Wright Be Rested in 2009?

David Wright has been the only Met regular to take the field every game these past two weeks, mainly due to injuries to the other regular position players.

Last season, Wright was not rested a full game until June 24, although he did have one game as DH in Anaheim, CA on the first day under Jerry Manuel's management.

Even though it was obvious to everyone that Wright was exhausted and more than a little banged up, he desperately needed a day off, but Willie Randolph continued putting him in the lineup.

Francisco Rodriguez Is Latest in Long Line of Ailing Mets

Add Francisco Rodriguez to the list of decommissioned Mets—however temporarily.

The closer left Saturday night’s game against the Red Sox at Fenway Park with back spasms. He collapsed and was sent to the hospital.

This is starting to get ridiculous. One of the guys who seemed impervious to pain, K-Rod just broke down.

Omir-Acle for the Mets: Santos' Homer in the Ninth Pushes New York Past Boston

Whew! My adrenaline is pumping! What a game—a possible World Series preview with so much hype. The Saturday night game in Boston definitely lived up to that hype in a 3-2 Mets victory thanks to a two-run home run by Omir Santos in the top of the ninth inning.

New York Mets: First Quarter of the Season Is Over, How'd They Do?

The first quarter of the season is done with.  It has been quite a wild one for the New York Mets.  The Mets, right now, have a 22-19 record.  They are 1.5 games behind the defending champs, the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Mets started off the season with beating the Cincinnati Reds, everything was great.  The bullpen worked exactly as planned.  Sean Green in the seventh, JJ Putz in the eighth, and Francisco Rodriguez in the ninth to get his first save fo the season.

Another Mets' Option: What About Damion Easley?

The Mets are not a healthy group right now. The team struggles to keep a group of nine guys together for more than a couple of days, as the list of injured players continues to grow.

In the last 24 hours, we have had three more additions to the injury report. Ryan Church’s hamstring, JJ Putz’s neck, and Carlos Beltran’s knee have become the latest concerns. Church and Beltran are likely day-to-day, but Putz is out indefinitely.

Here are some random thoughts as the Mets head into the buzzsaw of Boston.

Fantasy Baseball Advice: Middle Infield Options For Jose Reyes

On Wednesday night, Jose Reyes was taken out of the game against the Dodgers with what appeared to be an aggravated calf muscle. It looks like Reyes will be heading to the disabled list, since this has been a lingering injury.

Reyes has had limited duties the last few weeks and hasn’t been much of a fantasy value thus far in the season.

My Take On The Mets: Their Problem Lies at First Base

As of now, all us Mets fans have heard that, first baseman, Carlos Delgado is going to be out with an injury for around ten weeks.  With that news there are many people saying what the Mets should do.

Everybody's opinion differs.  I believe that the Mets should stay in the organization.  To me, there's no reason to trade away right now.  Some of the biggest names for the Mets to get outside of the organization are, Russel Branyan, Nick Johnson, and Aubrey Huff.

Showing Love To Scott Schoeneweis; We Are With You

Guys, this is going to be short. I just really feel like BR needs to say something after the death of Scott Schoeneweis's wife today. Not many pepole noticed this before the game, but there was one man not in the bullpen for the D-Backs.

As a Met fan, I have got to see Scott pitch and now I feel a bit closer to him and a bit sorrier for him after his big lose.

This will look like a letter to Scott from me and hopefully the rest of BR, but this is more a way for me to connect to Scott and the rest of his family.
