Injury Report: Mets' Mike Pelfrey Has Tendonitis

For those of us who have been wondering what the story is with Mike Pelfrey, it looks like we finally have an answer, and it is not the one I was pretty excited to see.

According to ESPN’s Peter Gammons, Pelfrey has been pitching with tendonitis, and that has limited his effectiveness on the mound. Now, what would be our options here? Let’s explore.

First we need to know more about this injury. Pelfrey needs to be honest and discuss if he is pitching with pain, and if he is, he needs to rest up the arm to get it back to 100 percent.

We are all aware of the Mets bad decisions in the past when it comes to trades and free agent signings. I mean they traded Nolan Ryan for a bag of broken bats pretty much.

Billy Wagner Takes the Mound for the First Time Since Surgery

Billy Wagner took his first step towards returning to the Major Leagues today by completing a 23-pitch bullpen session today in Port St. Lucie under the watchful eye of Guy Conti.

Conti, formerly the Mets bullpen coach-turned rehab coordinator, said Wagner was in “tremendous shape."

It is unknown when Wagner’s next bullpen session will be. However, Conti suggested that it would be contingent on how Wagner’s arm feels after throwing from a mound today.

Ex-Mets Make Opening Night Bitter Sweet

Well Heath Bell got his wish. After publicly admitting that he wanted to be the first pitcher to close a game at Citi Field, Bell came through.

Unfortunately, the ex-Met did so while sporting a San Diego jersey. To make matters worse, he was set up by another ex-Met, Duaner Sanchez, who was released this spring.

Mets Fans: Stop Booing!

Amazin' Avenue posted this from Joel Sherman:

It seems to me strange that so many would come to games to be so miserable so quickly and easily. There is a Legion of Gloom atmosphere that now pervades Met home games, as if near everyone in the place is just waiting for something bad to happen.

New York Mets: It's a Marathon, Not a Sprint

As a Met fan, I know how frustrating it is to watch this team lose to the San Diego Padres—a team that lost 99 games last year.

The Mets have been known to play down to the level of the team they play, but they cannot do this if they plan on bringing a championship home to Flushing.

However, even though it’s tough to see them drop the first game in their new home, there are many, many, games to yet to be played.
