Upon writing this, I know there are many articles of the same vain.  However, this man deserves every tribute coming to him in the coming days. 

Harry Kalas was not just a broadcaster, he was a friend to Phillies fans the world over from April to September and sometimes beyond.  Harry made the game come alive with each and every spirited call.

Well Heath Bell got his wish. After publicly admitting that he wanted to be the first pitcher to close a game at Citi Field, Bell came through.

Unfortunately, the ex-Met did so while sporting a San Diego jersey. To make matters worse, he was set up by another ex-Met, Duaner Sanchez, who was released this spring.

It seems to me strange that so many would come to games to be so miserable so quickly and easily. There is a Legion of Gloom atmosphere that now pervades Met home games, as if near everyone in the place is just waiting for something bad to happen.

What a way to open a new stadium. Actually when you think about it, it was opened in typical Mets fashion.

As a Met fan, I know how frustrating it is to watch this team lose to the San Diego Padres—a team that lost 99 games last year.

The Mets have been known to play down to the level of the team they play, but they cannot do this if they plan on bringing a championship home to Flushing.

However, even though it’s tough to see them drop the first game in their new home, there are many, many, games to yet to be played.

The New York Mets will open their new stadium, Citi Field, tonight at 7:10 p.m. EST when they host the San Diego Padres. The festivities will begin with Tom Seaver throwing out the ceremonial first pitch to Mike Piazza, and the Broadway cast of "West Side Story" will sing the national anthem.

Sad news in the world of sports media as Harry Kalas passed away today at the age of 73. Kalas passed out in the broadcast booth of Washington's Nationals Park earlier today while preparing for this afternoon's Phillies-Nats game.

Sad news for sports broadcasting today, as Harry Kalas, best known as the voice of NFL Films, has passed away today at 73 years old.

Kalas, the Phillies play-by-play man, was rushed to the hospital prior to the start of the game after collapsing in the broadcaster's booth.  While listening to the Pirates vs the Astros on MLB Radio, word came back that he passed away in the hospital.

Kalas is known for narrating the NFL Films recaps of historic games.
