Roughly six weeks separate us from the unofficial start of spring training, with pitchers and catchers set to report to camp in mid-February. While that may seem like an eternity now, it's really not that far off. 

While Alex Gordon has come off the market, the floodgates on the second half of the offseason have yet to fully open. That leaves us with a plethora of impact players, both on the mound and at the plate, with no clue as to which camp they'll be heading to.

We're now less than 90 days away from Opening Day of the 2016 Major League Baseball season, and among the things that seem certain right now is this:

The AL East is pretty loaded.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were never going to replace Zack Greinke. That may as well have been a decree from the baseball gods.

Ken Griffey Jr. received some awesome news Wednesday, as he found out he had gotten more support in the Baseball Hall of Fame voting than any other player in history.

And yet, we can still say he got robbed.

The 2016 MLB Hall of Fame class has officially been announced, and this year it will be Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Piazza joining the hallowed halls of the game's immortals.

According to BBWAA.com, Griffey picked up a record 99.3 percent of the votes in his first year of eligibility, while Piazza earned induction in his fourth year on the ballot with 83.0 percent of the vote.

While those two players were both deserving of enshrinement, there were once again a number of notable snubs, and that's what we'll focus on here.

Free agency is great when it works, and it doesn't only work when a player signs a record contract or when your favorite team grabs the biggest star in the game.

Free agency works when a player gets to play where he wants the most and the team gets to keep the player it wants the most. It works when a small-market club can energize a region, win a World Series and still have a chance to go after another one.

Every year, superstars command the offseason spotlight, dominating the rumor mill and the minds of fans, who dream of, say, David Price atop the rotation. And while this offseason featured more high-profile, superstar talent than normal, not every team can make a big splash.

They write songs about center fielders, from (where have you gone) Joe DiMaggio to Willie, Mickey and the Duke. They write books about center fielders.

Catchers, shortstops and first basemen are important, but center fielders live on.

And yet in all the years of the Hall of Fame, only six players who started at least 1,500 games in center field have been voted in by the Baseball Writers Association of America. On Wednesday, it will become seven.

When will the next dominoes fall? That's the current, burning question of the MLB hot-stove season.

The calendar has flipped to 2016, and multiple marquee names sit unsigned. They'll all ink somewhere before pitchers and catchers report—that much we know. But which seismic signings are imminent?
