We knew that there would be a ripple effect when Max Scherzer finally signed, but most baseball fans and pundits alike didn't expect those ripples to stay within the confines of his new clubhouse.

Yet that's exactly what's happened in Washington.

There was a bit of a lull in the MLB offseason until big news hit that will surely influence more activity among teams with holes left to fill ahead of spring training.

Since the 2014 World Series wrapped up on October 29, we've been treated to one of the busiest MLB offseasons in recent memory.

From surprise free-agent signings to numerous blockbuster trades, it's been an exciting winter for baseball fans, and we're not finished, as there is still roughly a month before spring training kicks off.

In an effort to rebound from a disappointing last-place season in 2014, the Boston Red Sox made a number of significant additions this offseason.  The Red Sox bolstered their lineup with a pair of All-Stars, Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez.  Boston also filled out its rotation with starting pitchers Rick Porcello, Wade Miley and Justin Masterson.
