Dear Rockies Fan,

April 18th was very difficult. There's no two-ways about it. An 8-1 loss is tough to take, no matter who you are. 

In the midst of this hard loss, there are a some things that bear repeating.

The top two pitchers for the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies are arguably the top tandems in the Major Leagues. 

Each of these pitchers is an ace in his own right, but combined with the other, they make a great one-two punch for their respective teams.

With 27 World Championships, the New York Yankees have dominated the MLB for nearly 100 years.

By employing some of the best hitters in the history of baseball, New York's continuing professionalism mixed with the shear ability to consistently win has become the epitome of their championship swagger.

After losing to Johnny Damon and the Tampa Bay Rays twice in three days via walk offs, the 5-10 Minnesota Twins have stripped the closing title from Joe Nation and replaced him with Matt Capps.

But don't think it's the last time you'll see Joe Nathan in a Twins uniform in the ninth inning.

It's the $184 million question.

Well, for the Twins, it's more like the $184 million gamble.

San Francisco Giants left-hander Barry Zito sprained a ligament in his foot on Saturday night and had to leave a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

A strained ligament can only be so serious, right?

It may still be really early in the season, but as the weather heats up, so does the proverbial seat that each manager sits on.

A fast start can do a lot to assuage the demands of the fans, whereas a slow start can make the calls come louder and more bloodthirsty.

Again, I know that it's early. I know that nobody's getting fired anytime soon. However, what we can do right now is figure out who should start feeling uncomfortable if they can't turn things around soon. 

There is an unmistakable link between the warrior tales of classical history and those of popular sports.  Both contain a rich mythological tapestry where lifelong loyalties are forged and heroes are made of men. 

Among these heroes are the craftsmen, for the annals of Baseball lore are rife with the names of the masters of their particular arts.

Home runs are the domain of the Herculean—demigods like Aaron, Ruth, Mantle, McGwire and Bonds.

For the past several years, the outcry among critics of the Mariners was that while the team could field viable rosters–think ’07 and ’09, of course–there was no home-grown talent outside of the dazzling Felix Hernandez.

Bill Simmons calls it the Ewing Theory.  Other sports fans have associated the phenomenon with Peyton Manning, Alex Rodriguez, Tiki Barber and Drew Bledsoe. But in Philadelphia, there is only one player who should come to mind:
