When Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik asked the Seattle fans to be patient with the rebuilding process, I decided to comply with his request. I vowed to sit back and wait to see if the Mariners showed any progress with hopes that things would be different this season.

When Seattle started out 2-0 I was optimistic the ball club was on the right path. Since then the Mariners are 2-10 and still can't score any runs. Same old story.

In the article I previously wrote concerning Major League Baseball, I credited the use of steroids as the biggest issue within professional baseball.

The second most important issue in pro baseball is the fact that the league has no salary cap. One has to start asking, “Where does the spending stop?”

It's time for the Red Sox to prepare to trade Jacoby Ellsbury before the trading deadline.  In fact, unless his hitting improves dramatically, I think he should definitely be traded.

Alright, so that's not exactly the way Charles Dickens put it, in his Tale of Two Cities. Yet that's reality in Boston for fans of the 2-10 Sox these days.

As Keith Hernandez loves to say, "Almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades."

In this young season, the Mets have managed to take a season of hope, with so many changes in the off-season and a great 3-1 start, into a season of early heartbreak.  The Mets have taken two aspects of baseball that usually generate a winning formula and turned them into a stylish way to lose and torment the Shea Citi Faithful.

If you’re like most in Red Sox nation, this season’s start is less than ideal. At 2-9, Boston is not behind the eight ball yet, but they are well on their way.

Consider their numbers:

After 11 games, the team’s batting average is .230. They have only seven home runs and are scoring a little over three runs a game. Now add to this a pitching staff whose earned run average is 6.77. It certainly paints a portrait as to why the Red Sox are struggling.

You know what I did yesterday? I wasted seven hours and a day off watching Mets baseball at Citi Field. That's right. I woke up early and took two trains just so I can sit and watch the Colorado Rockies pound the Mets into the ground in both games of a doubleheader.

Waste of money? Only $20.

Waste of time? Absolutely.

Entering the season, the pitching staff for the Astros was suppose to be a strength for this team but after two weeks the results have not been good outside of Brett Myers. The Astros have a team ERA of 5.57, which makes the team 28th out of 30 teams.

This was partially expected as some of the Astros pitchers, like Wandy Rodriguez and Bud Norris, is perennially slow starters and usually get it together the second half of the season. However, there are some pitchers within the Astros organization that could potentially help the Astros pitching staff.

The Mariners entered Monday’s series opener with the Toronto Blue Jays on a seven-game losing streak since opening the season 2-0. They won the first two games of that series, and had a great chance to win the third before reigning home run king Jose Bautista ended their aspirations of a sweep with one swing.
