San Francisco Giants World Series Trophy Makes Its Way to Fresno

The San Francisco Giants World Champion Trophy Tour made a stop at Chukchansi Park in Fresno California on April 5, 2011.

Chuckhansi Park is home of the Fresno Grizzlies, the Triple A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.

Even though the tour stop was in Grizzlies country, the day was all about Giants fans.

The gates were supposed to open at 12:00 pm. With the line threatening to stretch all the way down the street and around the corner, the staff was forced to open up at 11:30 am.

Greg Reynolds Deserves Another Shot to Win Rockies Fans' Trust

The Colorado Rockies announced on Wednesday that ace Ubaldo Jimenez will start the season on the disabled list.

L.A. Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and the Line Between Fan and Criminal

When one of my favorite teams loses a big game, I’ve been known to do things of which I’m not proud: I’ve cried, I’ve thrown remote controls and cell phones and I’ve even punched inanimate objects. But it’s never even crossed my mind to beat the hell out of a supporter of the opposing team.

MLB: The Best and Worst Uniforms/Logos

In Major League Baseball, there are some teams with brilliant logo designs and bright, flashy jerseys. Those are the teams I love to watch play everyday. The teams I can't stand are the ones with dull, boring colors and an unoriginal logos. I've selected my top 5 and my bottom 5 of each category.

If It's in the Cards: 10 Things Vital to a Redbird Appearance in October

The city of St. Louis is in shambles.

The St. Louis Blues are wrapping up a blunder of a season, the Rams were 60 minutes away from a Wild Card berth but couldn’t seem to top a backup quarterback at best, and general manager John Mozeliak and the rest of the Cardinals front office accomplished virtually nothing during the offseason when dealing with the best player Major League Baseball has seen in decades…maybe ever.

New York Mets: Will Chris Young Be a 15-Game Winner This Season?

It is a debatable topic, but after Chris Young's first Mets start against the Philadelphia Phillies some can and will make the case that, just maybe, he can win 15 games. Is it possible?

Just as it is with the team in general, Young was not expected to be a huge part of the Mets' starting rotation coming into this season. After all, Young has been sidelined with injuries that have depleted his number of starts the last two season (32 starts with San Diego).

Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez: A Tale of Two New York Yankees

Protagonist and antagonist. Hero and villain.

Every novel has them, even poorly-written ones.  In many stories, they are easily defined.

But what happens when it becomes difficult to delineate which is which?

It seems that the great stories—the ones that remain in our psyche—have a protagonist-antagonist dynamic that leans toward this type of ambiguity, causing tension and making us wonder:  Who is the good guy?

Jamie Garcia Makes Doubters Blush, but Cardinals Make the Faithful Gush

Following a horrendous spring training in which Jamie Garcia gave up 37 hits and 15 earned runs in his final 17 innings, many questioned whether or not Garcia would be able to build on top of his impressive rookie campaign, where he accumulated 14 wins.

Red Sox in Cleveland after a Lost Weekend in Texas

A mere four days ago, Red Sox Nation was bursting at the seams with anticipation as the new baseball season was about to get underway in Arlington, Texas. Visions of a hundred-win season and a World Series championship danced in the heads of Sox fans everywhere.

San Francisco Giants: The Series Against the Dodgers and the Big Picture

It seems like only yesterday when Canadians were running wildly around the streets of Vancouver screaming hysterically and climbing up street signs in order to get above the shaking ground.

The city had just experienced its first major earthquake in over 64 years. The epicenter was located about 800 miles south of the border in a small American city where 90 percent of the population stood watching their television screens with wobbling knees.
