New York Yankees: Does Andy Pettitte Belong in the Baseball Hall of Fame?

When Andy Pettitte's name hits the ballot for the Hall of Fame in five years, the Baseball Writers of America Association (BBWAA) will have a very difficult decision on their hands.  His candidacy touches on so much of what has happened in the last 20 years in baseball.

Trading the Pirates' Paul Maholm to the Yankees Would Make Sense for Both Teams

With the Pirates likely done improving the team via free agency, there still could be a trade or two that could better the club, not only in the short-term but more importantly the long-term.

The Pirates front office has made it known to clubs that it would be open to dealing both catcher Ryan Doumit and starting pitcher Paul Maholm.

2010 Was "Torture", Time For A's To Answer Back in 2011

It has been three months since the Giants won their first World Championship since their move to the Bay Area from New York, and not a day has gone by that I have not been reminded.

While the A's have been busy all off season and gearing up for a serious run at the American League pennant in 2011, the Bay Area continues to ignore the A's accomplishments in favor of their love-fest with the Giants.

Before I am labeled a Giants "hater" allow me to give you a little background.

Why the New York Mets Might Be Rid of Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo Soon

Mets fans have wanted Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo off the team for a long time now.  They might get their wish very soon.  With all the negativity swirling around the Mets ownership with the Bernie Madoff situation, the team might be desperate to give the fan base something to be happy about.

Albert Pujols to the Los Angeles Angels: Match Made in Heaven, No Chance in Hell

The Super Bowl, the greatest event in sports, is only moments away. Which means baseball, my humble submission for the greatest sport, is just around the corner.

Spring training is fast approaching, and with it, Albert Pujols' self-imposed deadline for a contract extension with the St. Louis Cardinals. By Feb. 18, Pujols expects to be the highest paid player in baseball history, relevant to his status in the game today, or else.

The “or else” part of that is getting very interesting.

Too Soon To "Raul" Him Out: Raul Ibanez Poised for Improved 2011 with Phillies

The injury bug was biting in Philadelphia in 2010 and the fallout was dramatic. Over the course of the regular season, three quarters of the Philadelphia Phillies' everyday regulars spent time on the disabled list for extended periods of time.

New York Yankees: Andy Pettitte Questions and Answers

Andy Pettitte announced his retirement this past week. Is he done for good?

I believe that his announcement to retire came about for several reasons…Only Andy knows but something tells me the answer is no. Pettitte is competitive and the draw of the game will pull at him during the course of the season.  I suspect in large part his decision to retire came about due to...

Michael Young Trade Talks Swirl Again Between Colorado Rockies and Texas Rangers

The winter meetings are usually a pretty dull period of time for the Colorado Rockies. They are not the type of team that is going to throw around huge money to big-name free agents.

That's why it was such a big surprise when the Rockies name was linked to reports that the team might be interested in the Texas Rangers' Michael Young.
