Cliff Lee is the hottest player on the free agent market right now, but that doesn't mean that he and the Los Angeles Angels would be a good fit. 

A "mystery team" is said to have made a seven-year offer last night for the starting pitcher, and speculation abounds as to who it was. ESPN that same night also wouldn't disclose their source, but claimed that the Angels had entered the race for Lee.

Could those pieces of news be related?

It's official: The Chicago Cubs have signed left-handed first baseman Carlos Pena to a one-year, $10 million deal, something that will likely make a lot of Cubs fans happy and confused at the same time.

While this certainly isn't a long-term fix, considering that Pena is 33, the Cubs could really benefit from his services for the year.

Since Jayson Werth's surprise signing with the Washington Nationals on Sunday, Philadelphia has been left with a giant void to fill in the outfield.

Just a week ago Lee was on his way to New York, unless the Rangers could convince the southpaw he had good reasons to stay in Texas.

The New York Mets are exploring their options this week. The Mets, like all the other teams in the MLB, are at the winter meetings. The winter meetings are all about rumors and making deals. In other words, fact and fiction both coexist in harmony for one week.

While the baseball world is transfixed on free agent pitcher Cliff Lee, everyone has an opinion on where he'll sign.

Most people say the New York Yankees because they can offer the most money. Others say he might stay in Arlington with the Texas Rangers. Maybe the Angels or Red Sox will get it on the fun. Will the Washington Nationals sneak their foot in the door?

No one knows for sure, but everyone has an idea.

I have no problem with sports figures who are the personality equivalent of a stiff drink. Ted Williams is one of my all-time favorites. To me, Bobby Knight is a genius coach. If I shut down the moral center of my brain, I can even appreciate Kobe Bryant and Ty Cobb for their statistics and work ethic.
