Is It Finally The Pittsburgh Pirates Time To Shine?

Sid Bream . Say those two words to any Pirates fan and a cold chill will be sent down their spine.  The 1992 NLCS still lingers fresh in many minds.

New York Mets Make the Right Move on Jenrry Mejia

The Jenrry Mejia experiment is over in New York…at least for now.

The Mets did the right thing when they sent the 20-year-old rookie to the minors Sunday. While Mejia was an adequate if inconsistent reliever for the Mets this season, GM Omar Minaya’s decision to send him to the minors to start is what’s best for Mejia and the Mets organization in the long term.

The Philadelphia Feud: Jamie and Asher Debate the Phillies and More

Asher Chancey and I are both Featured Columnists covering the Philadelphia Phillies for Bleacher Report.

As we quickly learned upon meeting one another and becoming acquainted with each other's perspectives on the Phillies and sports in general, there is very little we agree on.

From Ryan Howard to the Phillie Phanatic, to Mike Schmidt to Richie Ashburn, ask these two guys a question, and chances are we'll disagree.

In honor of our bipolar views on the world of sports, we present the second installment of The Philadelphia Feud, a weekly feature in which we face off to debate hot topics fro

SF Giants & Madison Bumgarner: Another Reason to Complain About The GM

In the world of sports, there are no absolutes. Especially in baseball, absolutes simply don't exist.

Home runs are ruled as ground rule doubles, perfect games are ruined by wrong calls, and strikes are called balls.

Leave the absolutes to the sciences (and vodka, I guess?).

But with baseball? Everything is open for evaluation and change.

Unfortunately, the San Francisco Giants have a personnel team that believes in absolute untouchables.

Or at least they will tell you that is what they believe in.

Adam Jones Resurgence Encouraging, Yet Still Unfruitful

The list of struggling Orioles in 2010 is nearly as lengthy as their 25-man roster, but few are more noticeable than Adam Jones, the club’s starting center fielder and one of the faces of the franchise.

Jones is a key cog in the Oriole’s rebuilding process and after winning his first Gold Glove and appearing in his first All-Star game in 2009, he appeared to be on the path to stardom.

However, prior to the month of June, Jones has struggled to recapture the success of last season.

For Tampa Bay Rays, Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg Just Won't Do

Tampa Bay Rays owner Stuart Sternberg called for a press conference on Monday without revealing his intentions to the public. After meeting with St. Petersburg mayor Bill Foster, Sternberg stepped up to the podium to tell us what we already knew: Tropicana Field isn't good enough.

Though for the past two seasons the Rays have had the best home record in all of baseball, the Trop is quickly becoming a relic of bland 1980s architecture. The catwalks, the spotty turf, the dome itself; all things people point to when they talk about Tropicana Field.

Out Of Order: Derek Jeter Not Getting It Done in the Leadoff Spot

Fellow Yankee fans, before you accuse me of high treason or blaspheming our dear captain, please heed my plea for understanding.

As a lifelong fan of the team, I have long loved Derek Jeter and cherish his numerous contributions to the latest run of success in the Bronx. I am fully aware that the Yankees just won a World Series last year and the team is currently claiming ownership of the best record in Major League Baseball.

Should the New York Yankees Try To Trade For Paul Konerko?

Over the weekend, the Yankees overtook the Rays for first place in the American League East division.

But it has now become a three team race since the Red Sox are playing better and are now on the Yankees Rays coat-tails.

The Yankees have been playing well in the month of June, but they are entering the dog days of summer and the A.L. East pennant race will only be getting tougher.

There have been many rumors floating around of the Yankees trying to add pitching, preferably Cliff Lee or Roy Oswalt before the July 31 trading deadline.

Potential Trade Candidate: Fausto Carmona

As the trade deadline begins to inch closer and closer, it becomes more obvious what teams will be buyers and what teams will be sellers.

It is fairly obvious that the Indians will be one of the teams that will be sellers. They are currently 13.5 games out of first place and 16 games under .500 with a 26-42 record.

There has been talk about a few Indians pitchers being moved between now and the trade deadline. Jake Westbrook's name has been mentioned in connection with many teams.

Monday Morning Manager: My Weekly Take on the Detroit Tigers

Last Week:  6-1

This Week:  at NYM (6/22-24); at Atl (6/25-27)

So What Happened?

The National League came to town and all was good again.

The Tigers should pull a Milwaukee Brewers and lobby for a move to the NL. The American League can have the Brewers back, as a matter of fact.
