The open of the 2010 season had many fans of the New York Metropolitans up in arms.

Earlier this month, the man to the right became the poster-boy, if you will, for an MLB Instant Replay system.

For the third time this season, Johan Santana served up a home run with the bases full, as C.C. Sabathia and the Yankees took the rubber game of a three-game set in the Bronx.

Santana had only surrendered two grand slams in his career entering the 2010 campaign, but Mark Teixeira did what Josh Willingham and Shane Victorino did earlier this year in helping the Yankees to a 4-0 victory.

As you all know by now, Troy Tulowitzki has a broken bone in his hand and was put on the disabled list on Friday, and could be out for about six weeks.  The good news is there was no ligament damage, which would have made his time away much longer.

Split personality disorder.

It's the only explanation for the Detroit Tigers in the Jim Leyland era. 

Each year it's the same story. First half of the season, Detroit is a consistent and winning ball club. The second half, a below .500 team struggling to hang on to what they built up to the All Star break.

If it happens one year, maybe unbalanced scheduling can be used as an excuse. If it happens another year, maybe injuries can be used. But for four straight years, not much else can be said.

Jose Bautista, a gem? With his .222 batting average? This is just another case where a player's "headline" number is rather misleading.

It's true that Bautista has "only" 52 hits in 234 at bats. But 18 of those, or more than one-third of the total, are home runs. Another 15 have gone for two or three bases. Meaning that when he does hit, it's usually not a single.

If the Seattle Mariners trade Cliff Lee before the 2010 trading deadline, he has made sure that the Mariners will get top value in return.

Lee has posted an historic start to his 2010 campaign. Over his first 10 starts, Lee has 67 strikeouts and only four walks. Since 1900, no pitcher has posted as many strikeouts with as few walks over his first 10 starts. Additionally, over his last five starts, Lee has put in five quality starts, three wins, two complete games, and a tidy 1.75 ERA.
