Cleveland Indians: What To Do With Crowe, Brantley, Valbuena

As we have now heard, Grady Sizemore is expected to miss a good deal of the year, if not the whole season due to his knee, which needs surgery. This raises several questions for the Indians, the most important of which is what to do in center field.

Michael Brantley was kept in AAA with the Columbus Clippers not because he was playing bad, but because the Indians wanted him to play every day. Well, with Sizemore gone, he can be brought up and can play every day. We can see how good the young prospect can be under pressure, and it works well for the Tribe.

Getting D-Train Back On Track: Cardinals Should Discuss Dontrelle Willis

It's no secret that Dontrelle Willis is struggling. That's why it came as no surprise when the Detroit Tigers decided that he wasn't worth what they were spending on him—they designated him for assignment on May 30th.

However, there may be a perfect situation for him in St. Louis.

The Cardinals, who through Sunday were 29-22, could be looking for some pitching help, with starters Brad Penny and Kyle Lohse on the disabled list.

The biggest reason the Cardinals and Dontrelle could have mutual interest is the Cardinals' famed pitching coach, Dave Duncan.

Mets by the Numbers: 12 Stats About New York's Hot and Cold Offense

Baseball is a game of statistics where numbers can prove almost anything.

Already this season there are some interesting things to observe with the New York Mets, including the well-documented fact that they have the best home record in all of baseball despite the worst road record in the National League.

Here are a dozen lesser-known facts about the Mets offense and how it compares with their NL East rivals.

Washington Nationals Offense Strong Enough for September Playoff Push

There is a great deal of consternation right now about the Washington Nationals and their offensive struggles.

MLB All-Stars: Catchers and Infielders Edition

Does anyone else hate when fans fill out their all-star ballots based on "star-power" rather than actual power?

I do, so I decided to compile a slideshow of what my 2010 all-star team would look like based on performance through May 30, 2010.

Writing up an entire roster would have taken too long, so this slideshow is only of my infield selections. Outfielders and pitchers will follow.

Check back for the next edition.

What Would Houston Want For Oswalt? The Tigers Fit The Bill To a Tee.

It's time to make the move guys.

Don't be fooled by Scherzer, it looks like he is back but he will still be a little up and down.

Same with Porcello.

Encouraging signs, but I want to win now.

This team is ready to strike and let's hope Dombroski doesn't go down like Inge on a called third strike. Take your swings Dave.

You guys know what I want, you read my two articles about it.

A Note to R.A. Dickey: Enjoy Your Early Success With the New York Mets

R.A. Dickey seems to be a player that doesn’t get excited by much.  As a matter of fact, I don’t think I have seen him smile since he was brought up from Triple A.

Maybe it’s because I am so used to seeing players pound their chests and point to the sky for every success on the field.

This includes getting a hit, a walk, a sacrifice fly, a productive out, striking out a hitter, getting down a sacrifice bunt, and grabbing the regular flavor of sunflower seeds instead of the dreaded barbecue-flavored ones.

Rumor Central: Oswalt To Detroit?

Its been suggested by ESPN and the Detroit Free Press the Tigers might be possible suitors for Roy Oswalt. The question both sources state is whether the Tigers have enough young talent to pull off a deal.

Buster Olney suggests the market for veteran pitchers might be a buyers market, as there are quite a few pitchers expected to be on the block.

Oswalt is a proven pitcher who is throwing very well this year. The Tigers could use another proven pitcher, and they might actually have some pieces to entice the Astros.

J. D. Martin Could Become John Lannan Clone In Nationals Rotation

Everyone had forgotten about J.D. Martin until he took the mound for the Washington Nationals this past weekend. With Scott Olsen’s arm still sore, Martin was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to fill in against the San Diego Padres.

Justin Thomas Is Making His Case for a Call from the Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen has several concerns.

Two of the key concerns are that four relievers carry a 4.78 ERA or above and Javier Lopez is the only left-handed arm in the pen.

The answer to some bullpen help may be in Indianapolis. His name is Justin Thomas.

Thomas is a 6'3" 220 pound lefthander out of Youngstown State and is the Seattle Mariner's 2005 forth round draft choice.

Thomas began his professional career as a starter and in 2006, his first full year, he won 14 games.
