Subway Series Preview: New York Yankees Need To Slow Down Streaking Mets

After dropping two of three at home to the Phillies, the Yankees are now just 21-20 against teams with winning records, compared to a staggering 20-5 mark versus losing clubs.

In fact, New York hasn't taken a series from a team with a current above .500 winning percentage, aside from the Twins, since beating the Red Sox on May 7 and 8.

The Bombers have a chance to reverse that trend in the Subway Series this weekend against the Mets, a team that has won seven straight and took two of three from the Yanks at Citi Field last month.

Mets Prospect Spotlight: Roy Merritt

In a farm system of pitching prospects that have been flopping for the most part, left-handed reliever Roy Merritt has stood tall. Merritt recently has been promoted to AAA Buffalo after a year and a half of solid pitching at AA Binghamton.

Merritt deserves such mentioning because he has demonstrated consistency out of the bullpen that many other Minor League Mets prospects have yet to achieve.

Triple Threat: Are Sheets, Lee, and Westbrook All Heading East?

As the MLB trade deadline is quickly approaching, we have a greater idea of which teams will be buyers and which will be sellers.

What the Toronto Blue Jays Can Bring to the 2010 Trade Market

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Oakland A's unofficially kicked off the 2010 pre-deadline trading activity this week. With the D-Backs running up the white flag on 2010 and putting out word that almost everyone on their roster can be had, the trade market should be on the verge of getting busy. The Kansas City Royals are also putting it out there that they too are willing to shop several of their veteran pieces.

MLB Draft Update: Los Angeles Dodgers Sign Ralston Cash, Leon Landry

In what was thought to be a difficult signing season for Los Angeles Dodgers' draftees, the team made deals with second round pick Ralston Cash and third round selection Leon Landry on Wednesday.

The details of the contracts are unknown, as many of the deals are sometimes kept under tight wraps until the signing deadline passes on August 16.

According to the Gainsville Times, a newspaper in Georgia, Cash will complete his deal by the end of the week, and upon signing will immediately be dispatched to begin pitching in the Arizona rookie league.

Los Angeles Dodgers-Boston Red Sox Preview: Manny Returns to Fenway

This weekend will mark the first time Dodgers' left fielder Manny Ramirez will play in Fenway Park since departing the Red Sox.

With the Dodgers currently in a first place battle in the NL West, and the Red Sox heating up and making a push in the AL East, the series looks to be a TV ratings power boost.

The Dodgers are now in first place, following two dominant wins to begin the series with Cincinnati.

Mets Go for Lucky Seven With R.A. Dickey Pitching

CLEVELAND: The Mets are doing a lot of things right right now. They are obviously winning a bunch of ballgames, and that's taking them farther away from the .500 mark, as they are now nine over.

They are winning virtually every night that the Phillies and Braves lose, and when those two teams win, like last night, they make sure they keep pace. It's all a sign of a very good team, that seems to only be getting better, and that's a pretty scary thought.
