The Houston Astros have finally begun winning ball games fairly consistently.

My only question is: Where were these Astros at the start of the season?

Carlos Lee jacked a grand slam in the top of the 10th inning on Wednesday night in Colorado, as Houston came back from an early deficit and the Astros topped the Rockies, 6-2, in wild fashion.

And it’s about damn time.

Just moments after Houston made their final selections in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, it finally appears as though the Astros are beginning to get things going this season.

Rick Porcello got kicked around again on Wednesday night. This has become a common occurrence throughout the 2010 season. Starting against the Chicago White Sox, he only lasted 3.1 innings, allowing eight runs. 

Porcello's season ERA rose from 5.25 to 6.09.

Just like in most of his outings this season, he looked extremely hittable. I know that is a subjective evaluation, but this is an attribute that he did not seem to possess in 2009.

Strasburg will be the best pitcher in the MLB for a long time.

Ever since his college days at San Diego State, Stephen Strasburg has been advertised to be the No. 1 pick in the MLB Draft whenever he took the mound.

He has a nasty fastball that topped over 100 miles per hour and made half of Pirates' batters miss. This is his favorite pitch to get players out. This will be one of the best fastballs in the MLB.

No, the picture on this article was not chosen by mistake. The Dodgers used their first pick of the draft to select a high school pitcher who also stars as a quarterback.

With the 28th overall pick of the 2010 MLB First-Year player draft, the Dodgers selected Zach Lee of McKinney High School in McKinney, TX.

The draft pick raised several eyebrows for several reasons.

The 2010 Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen leaves a lot to be desired, but Evan Meek has quietly become a very good set-up man.

His numbers this year are staggering. He's 3-1 with a 0.78 ERA and a 0.84 WHIP. In addition, his 33:8 strikeout to walk ratio is very impressive.

In a category I call quality appearances, (an appearance of 2/3 of an inning or more, with an ERA below 4.00 and a WHIP below 1.33) he is 19 of 25. That is, 76 percent and most of those that don't qualify we're not extremely poor appearances.

In the next few weeks, Major League Baseball will embark in trade frenzy. Every team must quickly decide whether they are a buyer or seller.

Do they have a chance to compete this year? Is it better to hold the pieces for a run next year? Should they sell any valuable assets to rebuild for years to come?

It is not easy for a general manager to make these decisions.

The buzz surrounding the right-handed fireballer reached historic levels before he even signed a professional contract. He was the unquestioned No. 1 pick in the draft last year, jumping to the top of a prospect class that was far more talented than this year's.

For the Houston Astros, day two of Major League Baseball’s 2010 First-Year Player Draft began with selections No. 58 and No. 90 (before a plethora of picks in rounds 4-30) shortly after noon ET on Tuesday, June 8.

So how did Houston score in the second day of the draft?

Let’s begin by taking a look at their first few choices (rounds two, three, and four) and what the future may hold for those players.

Overall, I’d give the Astros a B for their picks in day two of the MLB Draft.
