Here’s a look at the 2014 Lester’s Legends’ shortstop rankings for AL-only fantasy baseball leagues.


1. Jose Reyes, Toronto Blue Jays

Jose Reyes was limited to 96 games, but he hit .296 with 58 runs, 10 home runs, 37 RBI and 15 stolen bases. If he can stay healthy, he will give you a big boost in runs, average and stolen bases.


2. Elvis Andrus, Texas Rangers

With the top 150 fantasy baseball players reordered and re-ranked on the latest Big Board, it's time to continue rolling out the individual position rankings.

The Kansas City Royals finished the 2013 spring training with a record of 25-7, and fans were excited to see the potential of the young guns on this team.  

Spring training statistics can be horribly misleading. With so many young, inexperienced prospects in big league camp, it’s imperative that all numbers be analyzed within context. At the same time, it’s hard not to get excited when a prospect makes an immediate impact.

2013 was disappointing for the Philadelphia Phillies, and it is safe to say that I was not the only one waiting for Spring Training to get underway. We are all hoping that this season will be better than last, and how the Phillies perform in Spring Training can give us a pretty good indication of what we might see coming our way this season.

That’s why I’m here to help out. I have put together a list of the important things that have gone down already even though we are only three games into the affair.

The Arizona Diamondbacks don't necessarily have to trade either one of their two young shortstops currently battling for the starting job. 

Both Didi Gregorius and Chris Owings, the two talented players involved in the aforementioned battle, have minor league options and could be sent to Triple-A to start the season. They might even benefit from the experience.

1. Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers

Although Miguel Cabrera is playing first base this year, he maintains eligibility at third base in most fantasy baseball leagues.

Regardless of whether you use him at first or third base, he’s the premier player at his position.

Fortune favors the bold fantasy baseball players looking to seize control of their league.

Drafters can play it safe and fill their squad with dependable veterans, but where’s the fun in that? By taking average players, you’ll finish in the middle of the league’s standings. And when some “sure things” inevitably crumble, you’ll feel all the more crushed.
