Our 2011 fantasy baseball projections will be released one-by-one until the top 100 players have been revealed. These rankings consider past achievements, current performance and expected future results based on standard 5×5 H2H settings.

Since his major-league debut in 2006, Dan Uggla has made a living hitting home runs.

In a sport where a lot of the contracts seem absolutely ridiculous, this list includes the ten worst contracts handed out to MLB pitchers.

The interesting part of this list is that although sometimes the deal looks idiotic right away, other times it takes a few years to prove just how much of a waste of money a player is.

This list is entirely focused on relatively recent contract signings, because these contracts are so much bigger and look so much worse than any contracts in the past.

Baltimore Orioles' owner Peter Angelos has been widely known as a stickler when it comes to spending money on players. Instead of going out there and paying big bucks for solid players, it seems as though he decides to just sit around and wait until the big-name players have already been signed to contracts with other teams.

Not this off-season, though.

Major League Baseball is gearing up for the 2011 season.

Indeed, Spring Training begins in a matter of days which means it is time to take a look at all 30 teams and predict how good they will be. In the follow slide show, all 30 teams will be ranked, from worst to best.

Each team's segment will include last season's record. whether they should be expected to improve, decline, or hold their ground, key offseason acquisitions and departures, and a brief encapsulation of why they will be good, bad, mediocre, etc.

The 2011 baseball season is almost upon us. The hot stove is winding down and pitchers and catchers will begin tossing in just a matter of days. Plenty of big moves peppered the off-season and teams will shortly find out if those moves will be major payoffs or major busts. Plenty of questions stand ready to be answered.

Did the Red Sox add enough to compete with the Yankees?

Did the Rays lose too much talent?

Can anyone in the National League compete with the Phillies?

Can the Reds young team repeat their success from 2010?

Going into the 2010-2011 offseason, it was clear that the New York Yankees and New York Mets were in need of a pitching boost.

In the Bronx, Andy Pettitte was strongly leaning towards retirement, and Cliff Lee chose to sign with the Philadelphia Phillies.

In Flushing, Johan Santana continued rehabbing his arm, and John Maine left as a free agent.  Both teams were in desperate need of starting pitching.   However, neither team went for any established starter.

Andy Pettitte announced his retirement from baseball at Yankee Stadium today, bringing an end to a 16-year career that saw him a 240-138 record between his time with the New York Yankees and Houston Astros.

The five-time World Champion was a fan favorite everywhere he went and he shone in the playoffs as if it was his own stage. His 19 postseason wins are the most in baseball history.

The Phillies have pulled off some trades for some top pitching talent over the past few seasons. 

In 2008, the Phillies traded Josh Outman, Adrian Cardenas and one other to acquire Joe Blanton. 

In 2009, the Phillies traded Carlos Carrasco, Jason Donald and Jason Knapp to acquire Cliff Lee. Then, in the offseason that year, the Phillies traded Kyle Drabek, Michael Taylor and Travis D'Arnaud for Roy Halladay.  

During the 2010 season, the Phillies traded J.A. Happ, Anthony Gose and another player for Roy Oswalt.

It is nearly impossible to not fall in love with an under-the-radar player or two each year while preparing for a new fantasy football season.

These are guys you feel aren’t getting enough love or attention from experts who bury them in the rankings.
