MLB Power Rankings: The Top 10 Fastballs in Baseball History

Baseball fans have long been enamored with pitchers who have the ability to rear back and throw blazing fastballs by helpless hitters. Power pitchers who hit top-notch speeds often tally huge strikeout totals and are sought-after commodities to lead a rotation.

As a pitcher in Major League Baseball, it can be difficult to survive without an above-average fastball. Of course there are exceptions, such as plus-40-year-old hurlers Tim Wakefield and Jamie Moyer, but for most pitchers the fastball serves as the base for every repertoire.

MLB: Ranking the 10 Best Pitchers Entering the 2011 Season

You read who I thought were the 10 best hitters in baseball entering the 2011 season, and now here's a list of the 10 best pitchers in baseball.

This is a very tough list to make because there is so much good pitching these days, but these 10 stand out above all. You could have made a ranking of the top four pitchers in the game and listed every Phillies starter but that would've been too easy.

MLB Power Rankings: The Greatest Catcher in Each Team's History

Among the nine positions in baseball, the catcher is oftentimes the most overlooked.

For every pitch, there is someone behind the plate ready to catch the ball. A pitch is not released to the batter until after the pitcher receives a sign from the catcher.

Inning after inning, the catcher has the rough task of crouching in a very uncomfortable position that seems to take a toll after a while, as we see catchers traditionally regress late in the season.

MLB All-Overpaid Team: Who Makes The Pre-Spring Training 2011 Team?

As Spring Training draws near, it’s time to look at which players are going to be overpaid in 2011 based on their previous performances.

How many Yankees and Mets players are on the list? Do Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and A.J. Burnett make the list?

What about Boston’s Daisuke Matsuzaka and Jonathan Papelbon?

Oddly enough, none of them are on the list. So if it’s not these veterans, then who could have possibly made the list heading into 2011?

MLB Power Rankings: The Top 10 Curveballs in Baseball History

It's one of the hardest things in sports to execute. It gives the opposition fits when thrown properly. It can ruin a career.

The curveball has been around for ages and has taken many forms throughout the history of baseball.

There's the looping 12-6 curveball, which drops off the table just as the hitter thinks he has a read on it. A curveball can also be thrown with some velocity in an attempt jam a hitter. And let's not forget the classic knee-buckling curveball that has made countless hitters look foolish.

Fantasy Baseball 2011 Rankings: Joe Mauer, Buster Posey and The Top 10 Catchers

Is it baseball season yet? I know I can't wait for my favorite fantasy sport to start up again.

Catcher is a top-heavy position. Either you get a guy like Joe Mauer or Buster Posey or you play a patchwork of lower-level options.

But that is what is so great about fantasy baseball. In fantasy football, you set a lineup once a week, and if a star player gets hurt, your team is pretty much done (Aaron Rodgers' concussion ruined three of my FF teams.).

MLB Power Rankings: The Greatest Second Baseman in Every Team's History

A position not generally known for gaudy numbers or broken records, second base continually represents finesse and footwork that only a few skilled athletes can master.

When going through the history of the MLB, we see many second basemen who have made their careers being the solid defender the position needs, but we also see cases where a team's best player mans the 2B position.

We're here to take a look at my opinion of who is the best second basemen to ever man the spot for each MLB team.

New York Mets Milestones That Could Be Broken This Year

Every year players come closer and closer to breaking new records and feats. This year is no different; a handful of Mets players come closer to breaking franchise records.

Here is a look at what is at stake:

David Wright needs to hit 24 home runs to become No. 3 on the Mets' all-time home run list.

Carlos Beltran needs to hit 21 home runs to become No. 5 on the Mets' all-time home run list.

MLB Hot Stove: 10 Under-the-Radar Signings That Will Pay Huge Dividends

Coming off a crazy/exciting offseason, the MLB season is slowly upon us. Big moves were made in both the NL and AL, highlighted by Philadelphia Phillies signing Cliff Lee and Boston Red Sox signing Carl Crawford. Here’s a list of the top 10 under-the-radar signings that will pay huge dividends this season.

MLB Spring Training Preview: The Player with the Most to Prove from Each Team

With a little over two months until spring training, baseball is almost here. Finally.

This also means that each team has about two months to cut their roster down to 25 players. Who will make it, who won't?

While there were players who had great seasons, like Josh Hamilton and Roy Halladay, there were players who had not so great seasons. That's who we are going to look at.

And not just the top five or 10 or 15 etc. Every team has a player who needs to step up their game and improve from their less than par performance of last season.
