MLB free agency has certainly slowed down a bit after a wild start, but it's far from over.

There are still a lot of big names available this offseason as players hold out for the biggest and best possible deal that they can find on the market. Some of these players are waiting for the dominoes to fall, waiting for players like Chris Davis to sign before they put their pen to paper.

The glacial market for bats is slowly beginning to thaw, which means the long winter wait for Yoenis Cespedes, Chris Davis and Justin Upton should soon draw to an end as Week 9 of the 2015-2016 MLB offseason comes to a close.

While those unemployed sluggers dominate the conversation, there's also room for some talk about a retired masher and a former ace whose Hall of Fame credentials are in the headlines.

The crazy part about Yoenis Cespedes, Chris Davis, Alex Gordon and Justin Upton all remaining unemployed at this late date in the offseason is that there's still a tremendous need for corner bats across the game.

The Kansas City Royals, San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals are just a few of the contending clubs who should add an impact hitter as the 2016 season inches ever closer.

While the hot stove continues to smolder and we wait on a number of key free-agent signings, now seems like a good time to take an updated look at how all 30 MLB farm systems stack up around the league.

The following factors helped determine the rankings of players and teams:

Major League Baseball's hot stove has cooled considerably since the winter meetings came and went, but with a number of impact free agents still searching for a new home, there is plenty of action still on tap before the start of spring training.

While things have slowed, this past week was by no means devoid of action. Aroldis Chapman was traded, and Scott Kazmir, Kenta Maeda and Stephen Drew all made their free-agency decisions.

For the Miami Marlins, the club's New Year's resolution is incredibly simple: Just don't trade Jose Fernandez.

While the Fish don't have to do anything at all, action will be required for the vast majority of major league squads if they're going to fulfill their respective resolutions.

The New York Yankees have built a wicked nasty pen, but the rotation still needs an ace. The San Francisco Giants still have some unchecked bullet points on their offseason shopping list, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have an enigma to solve.

The new year begins Friday, but we are still a couple months away from the start of the 2016 MLB season.

With a number of impact players still sitting in free agency, there will be plenty more action between now and that magical day when pitchers and catchers report to spring training.

For now, though, it's time for an updated look at where all 30 teams stand.

Sometimes, the moves that make the biggest impacts in sports are the ones that are swept under the rug in favor of more high-profile transactions. 

It's no different in baseball than it is in any other sport. Would the Kansas City Royals have won a World Series title without the additions of Kendrys Morales and Edinson Volquez? Jed Lowrie and Colby Rasmus paid huge dividends for the Houston Astros last season, while A.J. Burnett worked out just fine for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Every year in MLB, we're treated to the out-of-nowhere emergence of more than one new star. 

While it may be out of the blue to most of the baseball world, players like Matt Duffy, Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts all showed signs that a breakout was on the horizon during the previous season. 

It's already been a busy offseason around Major League Baseball, as teams have already crossed a number of items off of their to-do list so far this winter. 

However, as we get set to flip the calendar over to 2016, all 30 teams still have at least a couple of areas to focus on between now and the start of spring training.

Whether it is plugging a roster hole with a free-agent signing, trading off an expensive or unnecessary roster piece or extending a player ahead of free agency, every team has something left to accomplish.
