The 2009 Bleacher Report Featured Columnist Baseball Awards

Anybody who has ever watched baseball with any conviction at all knows that debating over who should win Major League Baseball's annual awards is almost as fun as watching what unfolds during the postseason. With those awards, however, occasionally comes winners who make the baseball viewing public scratch their heads, and wonder what the baseball writers of America were thinking (i.e. MVPs Albert Belle in 1995, Willie Mays in 1962).

The Top 10 Latino Yankees in League Championship Series

Joe Girardi is fully enjoying his first appearance in League Championship Series as the New York Yankees manager.

Hopefully he would love that his joyous ride continues all the way to the Fall Classic.  However, first of all they have to beat the red hot Los Angeles Angels.

Orioles Top Prospect No 21: Matt Angle

The Orioles have placed quite the premium on drafting super-athletes with speed to burn in the past few drafts. It started with Tyler Henson, and has continued with Xavier Avery and Kyle Hudson, and this year the crop included Mychal Givens.

The Top Latinos in MLB's League Championship Series

Bobby Abreu, Vladimir Guerrero, and Kendry Morales were the heroes in the Los Angeles Angels' defeat of the Boston Red Sox.

Alex Rodriguez, Jorge Posada, and Robinson Cano were among the hottest Yankee bats in the three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins.

Projecting Greatness: Dauss, Lolich...Verlander

Elite.

Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander finally earned the adulation with a remarkable 2009 campaign.

Starting on May 10, May's American League Pitcher of the Month led the Tigers on a 147-day first place expedition. Though Detroit was dramatically unseated by Minnesota in the 163rd game, it was no fault of Verlander's.

Among AL Triple Crown pitching categories, Verlander ran away with the strikeout title (269), shared the lead in wins (19) with Felix Hernandez and CC Sabathia, and placed sixth in earned run average (3.45).

The 2004 Red Sox Pitchers: Where Are They Now?

This year is the five-year aniversary of the Sox reversing the curse of Babe Ruth and winning their first World Series ring since 2004. The Sox did the impossible during that unbelievable season by defeating the Yankees in the ALCS while being down 0-3 in the series. The 2004 Sox may be the best story in MLB playoff history. This Sox team will never be forgotten by Sox fans. I thought it would be interesting to show you what happend to all the members of the unbelieveable team. Here is the pitchers article of The 2004 Red Sox: Where Are They Now?.

Brewers 2009 Season Recap: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

A year removed from the team's first postseason berth in a quarter century, the 2009 Milwaukee Brewers finished a disappointing 80-82, good for third in the National League Central behind the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs.

Here's a look back at The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly from the 2009 Milwaukee Brewers season...

Season Finale: Part V: Returning the Stolen Base to Baseball Prominence

Part V, (season-finale) in a series. I'll do it again next year and compare it to this year.

My Top 10 Baseball Games of the 2009 Season

First of all, it’s kind of funny that I call this list my Top 10 games, when the majority of them are Yankee wins and Mets losses. My original plan for this slideshow was to give my Top 5 Most Memorable Mets games of the 2009 season. I was going choose 5 of the 18 games I went to that had the most memorable happenings (i.e. Opening Day, the Castillo drop, etc.). However, after Friday night’s Yankees game that I was in attendance for, I’ve decided to do my Top 10 Most Memorable Baseball Games of the 2009 season.

Orioles Top Prospect No 24: Eddie Gamboa

Check out Eddie Gamboa's player profile on his alma mater, UC Davis', website and you'll see that he is planning for a career in real estate. Provided Gamboa keeps pitching like he did in 2009, real estate is going to be the furthest thing from his mind. Pitching for a big league club less than two and a half years after being drafted will be front and center.

Few pitchers came into the 2009 season with less noteriety and publicity than Gamboa. I mean, he was a 21st round draft pick in the 2008 draft. The 626th pick!
