In this baseball age of advanced scouting, statistics and analytics, rarely do you find an undervalued player or the “bargains” of the winter. With players analyzed so thoroughly, no asset or weakness slips past the watchful eyes of the front office.

Value is always recognized, now more than ever.

While the San Francisco Giants’ system is top-heavy with pitching prospects, many of the organization’s top young arms profile as either back-end-starter types or guys who might not throw enough strikes to even stick in the rotation.

If case you haven’t been paying attention, the San Diego Padres and first-time general manager A.J. Preller have been busy this offseason.

Since the beginning of December, the Padres have added some of baseball’s premier right-handed power hitters through trades in outfielders Justin Upton, Matt Kemp and Wil Myers, as well as catcher Derek Norris.

Over the past few years, the New York Mets have done a very good job developing a great minor league farm system to build upon for the future. Quite a few current Mets have come up through this system under current general manger Sandy Alderson, including Matt Harvey, Zack Wheeler, Jacob deGrom, Jeurys Familia, Jenrry Mejia, Lucas Duda, Wilmer Flores, Juan Lagares and Travis d'Arnaud.

However, there are more young and talented prospects that could be coming up soon—some as soon as the 2015 season.

With the addition of Max Scherzer, the Washington Nationals will enter the 2015 season with one of the very best pitching staffs this league has ever seen. But the pitching party is not just in Washington, as multiple teams are equipped with elite rotations throughout MLB. 

The Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers have consistently fielded reliable starting pitching in recent years.

Having gone all Dr. Frankenstein to put together the perfect hitter and perfect pitcher by taking certain attributes of various sluggers and hurlers across Major League Baseball to form such a specimen, we've decided it's now time to do the same for an entire team.

That's right: The goal here is to concoct the perfect 25-man roster.

The Oakland Athletics' offseason has been...busy, to say the least.

After a myriad of moves, fans and analysts continue to debate whether the A's will remain contenders or fail to finish above .500.

Some say they're winners, because doubting Billy Beane is foolish. Others argue they're losers, because the A's did not adequately replace the talent lost.

The Atlanta Braves will feature many new faces to begin the 2015 season.

No longer will Jason Heyward and Justin Upton be trotting out to man the outfield in Atlanta. Evan Gattis will not be behind the plate come Opening Day.

While general manager John Hart's main goal this offseason has been to get younger and build toward the future, he did acquire some players who will be with Atlanta on Opening Day.

The Astros' system took a hit last season with the graduations of George Springer and Jonathan Singleton to everyday players in the major leagues, and the organization’s failure to sign draft picks Brady Aiken and Jacob Nix cost them two of the class’ premier high school arms. Yet, it’s still a system that’s loaded with potential impact talent, from top to bottom.

Addison Russell was viewed as the only potential star in Oakland's farm system headed into 2014, but that obviously changed when he was dealt in early July to the Cubs in the Jeff Samardzija-Jason Hammel trade. Outfielder Billy McKinney, the A’s first-round pick in 2013, also was shipped out in the trade.
