Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels Swap Vernon Wells and Mike Napoli

Fox Sports is reporting that the Toronto Blue Jays have sent Vernon Wells and his $17 million per year contract to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for infielder Mike Napoli; pending a physical. The Angels acquire cash with the 32-year-old Wells who has waived his no-trade clause after having his most productive season since 2006 with 31 home runs and 88 RBIs.

Fantasy Baseball : Don't Look Now, But Rajai Davis May Soar to Fantasy Stardom

SAN FRANCISCO– Moving from the spacious outfield of the Oakland Coliseum to the hitter-friendly confines of Rogers Centre, all signs point to Rajai Davis becoming one of the top value picks in this year’s MLB Fantasy Draft. Although Davis may not be your prototypical leadoff man for the Toronto Blue Jays (an OBS of .320), he gives the team a speed threat that the fans of Toronto have not seen since the likes of Shannon Stewart nearly a decade ago.

Toronto Blue Jays 2011 Preview: Are They a Better Team Than Last Year?

At first glance, it would appear as if the Toronto Blue Jays have had a quiet offseason.

There were no big contracts, no major deals, no guys named Greinke or Ramirez.

In fact, they seemed to lose more players than they acquired: Scott Downs, Brian Tallet, Kevin Gregg, All-Star catcher John Buck and first baseman Lyle Overbay have all signed elsewhere.

Oh, and they traded Shaun Marcum, their Opening Day starter, for prospect Brett Lawrie.

Is Marc Rzepczynski the Toronto Blue Jays' Best Option for a Fifth Starter?

The fifth spot of the rotation is usually the most volatile one, and teams can go through any number of pitchers in the last spot over the course of a season.

Ineffective, injury-prone or young pitchers usually find themselves bringing up the rear of the rotation, and short spouts of poor performance will get a pitcher pulled out of the rotation quicker than its more established members.

Toronto Blue Jays Sign Jon Rauch

Poor Jon Rauch.

In an offseason where every reliever and their mother is getting two or three-year deals, Rauch can only muster a one-year deal.

Toronto Blue Jays Ink Reliever Jon Rauch To 1-Year Contract

The Blue Jays have added some more closer depth to their already growing bullpen, as the club announced Monday that they have come to an agreement with former Twins closer Jon Rauch on a one-year contract worth $3.5 million. The deal also includes a club option for 2012 that will see the hurler earn $3.75 million.

Having already signed relievers Carlos Villanueva and Octavio Dotel, the Jays added quite possibly the most imposing presence on a pitching mound since Randy Johnson.

Eric Chavez Joining the Toronto Blue Jays Makes Perfect Sense

Eric Chavez is nowhere near the player he was in his heyday with the Oakland Athletics, but this former Gold Glover from Cali could add the “intangibles” to a young Toronto Blue Jays infield.

Reports are surfacing that Chavez has been working out in Arizona and his health appears to be as good as it has been in years.

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Four Bounceback Players to Keep an Eye On

The key to a successful fantasy baseball draft is maximizing the return value on each of your picks. At the start of each draft, everybody will have an equal value's worth of picks; therefore, unless you target players who could potentially exceed the value of the pick they were drafted with, you will finish your draft in the middle of the pack. One of the best types of player to target when attempting to maximize value is the player who disappointed the previous year. Logically, his value will be its lowest following a poor season; hence the appeal to targeting these players.

Jose Bautista: 2011 Fantasy Baseball Draft Outlook

One of the biggest questions surrounding the baseball world this offseason involves the bat of Toronto's newest slugger, Jose Bautista.

Last season, Bautista's on-again, off-again relationship with the home run had many fantasy owners perplexed as to what type of player he truly was.
