Toronto Blue Jays: Analyzing Offseason Moves

With Spring Training starting, the Blue Jays are more than unlikely to make another significant move, having already made a few under-the-radar moves and traded the face of the franchise. I will analyze all the players that have left the team and all the significant players that have arrived to play for Canada's largest city.

Coming To Toronto

Alex Gonzalez, signed one year, $2.75 million deal
This deal was to replace Marco Scutaro, who was destined to leave as a Free Agent, as after his breakout season would demand more money.

Did Bad Luck Play a Role in the Career Of Josh Towers?

I am fan of Josh Towers.

He has the bulldog attitude, the will to win, the courage to push through when his stats tell us something further from the truth.

Towers saw early success while attending Oxnard JC, located in Oxnard California.  The Baltimore Orioles saw the promise and drafted Towers in the 15th round of the 1996 amateur draft.

1998 through to 2000 was when Towers put together three tremendous campaigns, going 30-21, with a 3.54 ERA in 500 innings.

It's Not So Bad Blue Jays Fans

As the NBA All-Star weekend comes to a close and the Raptors get back to the grind, I find myself thinking more about the upcoming MLB season. The time until spring training can be measured in days and before we know it opening day will be upon us.

For baseball fans in Toronto, the first pitch will begin a season-long question and answer period. Even though we have little chance to make any kind of push, I will enjoy watching to see how everything turns out.

Blue Jays Latest Cop Out: Flawless Fielding Fanaticism

A major league baseball insider recently revealed that the Blue Jays management's apparent obsession with defense is just part of the low-grade propaganda advanced to convince fans to purchase 2010 season tickets in the face of a 100-loss year.

Further, according to the content in Bleacher Report's Toronto Blue Jays section, the writers/super-fans are buying into the scam—hook, line, and sinker.

The scheme's rationale is based on an old baseball adage: Pitching and defense win       pennants.

Lazy Sunday Links

Can you tell that Alex Anthopoulos' honeymoon is over? AA promptly got back to work as the Blue Jays reacquired Zack Johnson from the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later.

Toronto Blue Jays Acid Flashback Friday: The T-Bird Logo

It's been a bitter of a Debbie Downer week as far as Blue Jays news, so I figured it was time take a break from all the doom and gloom with a new feature called "Acid Flashback Friday."

How the 2010 Toronto Blue Jays Can Lose 100 Games

There is nothing quite so gratifying as a great big dump. Salary dump, that is. Just ask the Toronto Blue Jays GM, Alex Anthopoulos.

Over the past six or seven months, the Toronto Blue Jays have parted company with Roy Haladay, Scott Rolan, Alex Rios, Marco Scutaro and Rod Barajas. These moves represent a salary dump for the 2010 season of a little over $47 million.

The five players who will replace Halladay et al—John Buck, Alex Gonzalez, Travis Snider, Edwin Encarnacion, and one entry-level starting pitcher—will earn slightly more than $10 million for the coming season.

Edwin Encarnacion Needs To Stay Away from Fireworks

2009 had its share of bizarre stories and the trend seems to be continuing in 2010.

As reported by ESPN.com’s Enrique Rojas, Toronto Blue Jays’ 3B Edwin Encarnacion suffered minor facial injuries caused by fireworks during a New Year’s eve celebration in the Dominican Republic.

Blue Jays trying to scoop up Chapman

Who ever thought that the Toronto Blue Jays would enter the ring and be in contention for one of the most hotly contested pitchers in the world? MLB Trade Rumors reports that the Blue Jays discussions with Aroldis Chapman are heating up, and met with him for a private workout on Thursday.

My Toronto Blue Jays New Year's Resolutions

Quit drinking, lose weight, get organized—ome might opt to chose these as New Year's resolutions, but how many of them will actually stick with it?

Hell, I'm not going to kid myself into believing that I will achieve any of those things in 2010, so why not direct my New Year's resolutions towards my favourite team on earth?
