Toronto Blue Jays Should Be Thankful to Play in AL East

The Toronto Blue Jays began their 2010 season on a high note, starting 5-1 before coming back to the Rogers Centre for their home opener against the White Sox.

Enter Fred Lewis: For Mike McCoy The Writing Is On The Wall

With the addition of the 29-year-old speedy outfielder, Fred Lewis, coming by way of trade from San Francisco, the Blue Jays have found their 25th man. Man number 26 is Mike McCoy.

After breaking camp with the Jays, McCoy was told by general manager Alex Anthopolous that if someone came up on the waiver wire that the Jays wanted they would pounce and send McCoy down to AAA Las Vegas.

That day has come.

Ricky Romero Adds a Two-Seamer and Fantasy Value

This past Tuesday, Toronto starter Ricky Romero took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Chicago White Sox.  While the no-hit bid fell that inning, Romero ended the game with a career-high 12 strikeouts, allowing two runs on only one hit, an Alex Rios two-run home run.

Fantasy MLB: No Saving Grace for Demoted Closers

The baseball season isn't yet two weeks old, but there has been a flurry of activity already in bullpens across the country.

In the past three days, four closers have been either demoted or placed on the disabled list, prompting four new pitchers to become must-adds for fantasy baseball players everywhere.

The coveted saves category can make-or-break a fantasy baseball season and if you were paying attention this week, you just might have begun your rise to the top of the fantasy baseball mountain.

Here's the situation as it stands now for four teams:

Fantasy Update: Toronto Blue Jays' Ricky Romero's Loses No-Hit Bid in 8th

After a two-day break, Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight is back with everything you need to know from Tuesday night’s action. Tonight, we’re featuring the Mets and Rockies at Coors.

Game No. 10 – New York Mets vs. Colorado Rockies

In an extremely lopsided game, David Wright was the lone bright spot for the Mets. New York’s third baseman reached base four times (two hits, two walks) and hit a solo HR to lead off the fourth, his second of the young season.

Fantasy Baseball Insiders' Inbox: Trade Carlos Lee for Vernon Wells?

In a new segment on Fantasy Baseball Insiders, our Insider will answer a fantasy baseball-related question sent from one of our readers.

Whether you have a trade proposal you’d like a second opinion on, or you’re unsure who to add, drop, or keep, we’ve got you covered in something appropriately titled: The Insiders’ Inbox.

The Bullpen and the Season: The 2010 Toronto Blue Jays Season Preview Part 3

After seven innings of excellent pitching from Shaun Marcum, the 2010 Blue Jays turned to one of their strong points of seasons past: the bullpen.

However, the 2010 bullpen is not the bullpen of years past. It is decently strong, but it also is a mix of new and old faces, with players like Valdez in and Accardo and Janssen returning.

Jason Frasor Blows First Save Chance for Toronto Blue Jays

In any endeavor in life, the leap from the No. 2 person to being the No. 1 man or woman is tremendous.

Until you go through it, you will never know how big the actual leap is.

Going from a Director of Sales to a VP of Sales is a huge step. Coaches will tell you going from an assistant basketball coach to the head coach is the longest eight feet in their lives.

In baseball, going from the seventh or eighth inning guy to the closer is a big step.

New Toronto Blue Jays closer Jason Frasor found out how big that step was yesterday.

Is Toronto's Shaun Marcum Worth a Fantasy Gamble?

It’s easy to forget about Shaun Marcum, as he missed the entire 2009 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.  On opening day, he once again made you pay attention.

Marcum carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning at Texas before giving up a single to Vladimir Guerrero with one out.  If you were simply looking at the box score, you might not be all that impressed by Marcum allowing three runs on two hits and one walk, striking out six over seven innings.  Yeah, it’s impressive, but the fact of the matter is the bottom fell out all in one shot.

Pinching and Pitching: The 2010 Blue Jays Season Preview, Part 2

Although the 2010 Jays offense has already been discussed there is much more to an offense than just those who start the game. In fact, who is on the bench or in the system can be just as important as who makes opening day.

This year the Toronto bench has taken a new approach cleansing and avoiding the talent past its prime, such as Frank Thomas or Kevin Millar, and opted for youthful zeal. The Jays bench is certainly not the best in baseball, by a long shot, but it does contain most of the pieces that a bench in the American League needs.
