Originally, I was a little disappointed on Christmas morning to discover that one of the requests on my free agent wish list, Carlos Delgado, was not fulfilled.

Although we are still months from the official Hall of Fame vote, it is never too early to take a look at the upcoming ballot, and with a less than stellar first year class headlined by Fred McGriff, Edgar Martinez, Barry Larkin, and Roberto Alomar, this may be the year for holdovers such as Andre Dawson and Bert Blyleven to be enshrined.

However, I feel that Alomar may have a legitimate chance at first ballot enshrinement. Let's take a look at the statistics.

Although Alex Anthopoulos' blackberry might not be in hiatus through the holidays, unfortunately the Blue Jay Hunter will be on a bit of a break this week to celebrate Festivus and other holidays of that nature.

Considering that we're in the home stretch of the holidays, it's very apropos that Rogers Sportsnet is rolling out a special this evening that's sure to get you in the giving spirit.

Six months ago, no one ever thought there would be a time in the near future where anyone but Roy Halladay would be starting on Opening Day.

Unfortunately, the Blue Jays will find themselves in that predicament on April 6 of next year when they decide who their Opening Day starter will be, and essentially who will be the new ace of the starting rotation.

So who will it be? As far as I'm concerned, the proverbial torch has been passed on to Shaun Marcum to steer this pitching staff in the right direction.

I took a bit of time to offer up my thoughts on the Only Trade That Matters. For good reason, such a deal provokes an instant firestorm of reaction, and there's a point at which you are contributing to information overload instead of getting your message across.

Well, it's official.

Roy Halladay has been traded to the Philadelphia Phillies.

I feel nauseous seeing "Doc" in a different uniform. But I'm happy for him as well. He finally has the chance to be part of a winning ball club. It's something he absolutely deserves.

Today it became official: Rookie GM Alex Anthopoulos did what former Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi could not by finding a trade for Roy Halladay that made sense for his club.
