Colorado Rockies Media: The Case Against Mark Kiszla (Part 2)

Mark Kiszla is at it again.

The Denver Post columnist continues to show why the print media industry is failing. They employ too many columnists who follow a team only long enough to put the franchise's head in a guillotine.

They rile up the passive fans and it sells a few more newspapers, but credibility is lost with fans who pay attention on a daily basis.

Kiszla routinely pulls out a "the Rockies owners are greedy" article and puts a different spin on it. His latest version features a twist, a dagger in the back of his very readers.

Can Lance Berkman Take the New York Yankees From Best to Better?

Well, that was unexpected.

For weeks leading up to MLB’s trade deadline, the Yanks were mostly quiet. Once the Cliff Lee deal fell through, the only names being thrown around were bats off the bench and middle relief help.

Well, the Yanks got their bench bat in Austin Kearns. And they paid the Indians $1.4M to rent Kerry Wood for the rest of the season.

But the one guy who came completely out of nowhere (and has the most potential to improve the team) was Lance Berkman.

MLB Trade Deadline: Roy Oswalt to Phillies, Lance Berkman to Yankees

Roy Oswalt struggled in his Philadelphia Phillies debut, but he should form a formidable duo with Roy Halladay atop their rotation down the stretch.

With Saturday’s trade deadline looming, teams are looking either to bolster already formidable rotations and lineups or to move the present and build for the future. It happens every season in baseball.

Roy Oswalt, Domonic Brown Keep Philadelphia Phillies Faithful...

By tomorrow night, Roy Oswalt will take the mound in a Philadelphia uniform.

After the 32-year-old ace dropped his no trade clause and accepted the trade from the Houston Astros to the Philadelphia Phillies, Oswalt joins a team dedicated to winning.

That is exactly what Oswalt was looking for, and he may be exactly what the Phillies need in order to win their second World Series in three years.

The Phillies were the clear winner in this trade with the Astros, as Philly received one of the best pitchers in the league, along with $11 million.

Welcome Roy Oswalt: You're Not In Texas Anymore!

I feel obligated to snap this off tonight.  The Tex Mex Phillies aka Astros are a much different team and Roy Oswalt deserves some advice upon his arrival.  Considering Houston is like our second home I would like to help him adjust once he gets to Philly (he pitches tomorrow night at the Nats for anyone who has been asleep).

Big Texas Howdy, Roy!  I hope this helps you as much as you will help us on our quest to the World Series!

Dan Haren: Angels Make Major Move, Acquire Haren From Diamondbacks

Despite being seven games behind the first place Texas Rangers in the American League West, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are not going down without a fight. Earlier in the week, they acquired Alberto Callaspo from the Kansas City Royals and now they have perhaps acquired the best pitcher left on the trade market.

The Angels have acquired RHP Dan Haren from the Arizona Diamondbacks for LHP Joe Saunders and minor leaguers Patrick Corbin, Rafael Rodriguez, and Tyler Skaggs.

Nightmare Continues for Rockies in Philadelphia

Ugly. Disgusting. Sickening.

Those are just a few of the words that can describe a Rockies team that ran into the All-Star break at the exact wrong time.

The team that took the field before the break looks nothing like the team that is donning purple after it.

Blame it on being on the road. Blame it on running into some pretty good pitching. Heck, Jim Tracy blamed it on the heat and humidity in the pre-game show.

Regardless, there has to be some sort of excuse for this team playing as badly as it has for over a week now.

Twins' Slugger Delmon Young Could Be on the Way to Stardom

When the Minnesota Twins completed a six-player deal for Delmon Young, Brendan Harris, and Jason Pridie for Matt Garza, Jason Bartlett, and Eduardo Morlan, many questioned whether the Twins made the right move.

In his two seasons with the Rays, Young accumulated 16 home runs, 103 RBI, 226 hits, and 12 stolen bases.

To be honest, some players have better seasons than that in just one year.

Former New York Yankees' Manager Ralph Houk's Biggest Gamble

It was one of the biggest gambles in World Series history.

Matty Alou was on third base with the potential tying run. Willie Mays was on second base with the potential World Series winning run. There were two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Willie McCovey was the batter with Orlando Cepeda on deck.

New York Yankees' manager Ralph Houk went to the mound to talk to right-handed starter Ralph Terry. It would be Terry's choice.

Terry decided to face McCovey.
