Fact: Since home-field advantage in the World Series was first awarded in 2003, the American League has won the All-Star Game 11-of-14 times.

MLB All-Star Game 2016: Score, Highlights and Twitter Reaction from AL vs. NL

The 2016 MLB All-Star Game started with plenty of fireworks at Petco Park in San Diego on Tuesday. Though the National League got on the board first, the American League prevailed 4-2 for its fourth win in a row.

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant captivated the crowd with a solo shot in the top of the first off Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale.

MLB Announces Batting Awards to Be Named After Tony Gwynn, Rod Carew

Ahead of Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game in San Diego, Major League Baseball announced its National League batting award will be named for Padres legend Tony Gwynn, while the American League accolade will be named for Rod Carew.

Padres.com's Bill Center reported the news.

The 87th edition of the MLB All-Star Game has concluded.

The American League won 4-2, with a pair of Kansas City Royals in Eric Hosmer (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI) and Salvador Perez (1-for-2, HR, 2 RBI) leading the offensive charge.

Hosmer earned MVP honors for his efforts.

The National League got on the board first with a solo home run from Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant in the top of the first and also got an RBI double from Marcell Ozuna of the Miami Marlins in the fourth inning, but that was all it mustered offensively.

Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers suffered a broken hand on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox, and he's slated to miss a big chunk of time after the All-Star break.
