At a previous time as recent as June, seeing these MLB players on the fantasy baseball waiver wire would have seemed ridiculous.

As the unofficial second half of the baseball season kicks into gear, ailing managers can locate relief from familiar options. A 2015 All-Star has resurfaced, as has a former saves leader and slugger pegged to go bonkers this season.

Remember when the New York Mets' vaunted super-rotation was a beacon of hope and stability in Queens?

So much for that.

Matt Harvey is lost for the season to shoulder surgery. Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz are pitching through bone spurs in their elbows. And Zack Wheeler has hit multiple speed bumps in his return from Tommy John surgery.

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals' Sunday matinee ended up being the equivalent of two games. The showdown at Nationals Park stretched all the way into the 18th inning before the visitors prevailed, 2-1.

In terms of highlights, they were few and far between thanks to exceptional pitching by both clubs, and, well, quiet bats played a big part, too.

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Rich Hill had to leave his start Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays because of a popped blister, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

It doesn't seem possible, but we're closer to the end of baseball's regular season than we are the beginning. With the All-Star Game behind us, the second half of the regular season has officially gotten underway.

For some players, like Detroit's Ian Kinsler and San Francisco's Madison Bumgarner, they've been able to pick up where they left off before the pause in regular-season action. For others, well, they're making their first—or in some cases, a repeat—appearance on our All-Dud team.

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Matt Moore is reportedly the subject of trade negotiations with the Aug. 1 non-waiver deadline approaching.

For the New York Yankees, August 1 is looking less like the trade deadline and more like a sell-by date. By now, there's little question that selling on the summer market is what they should do.

Rather, a better question is how much they'll be able to sell.

The Atlanta Braves placed closer Arodys Vizcaino on the 15-day disabled list Saturday because of a strained right oblique.
