The rich get richer. If there's one hot takeaway from the 2016 MLB All-Star Futures Game, that's it.

We're talking, of course, about the Boston Red Sox, a club already loaded with young position-player talent.

Boston fans got a preview of another blockbuster coming attraction on Sunday in San Diego, and they had to be elated with what they saw.

The World Team picked up its first win in the MLB All-Star Futures Game since 2009 on Sunday in San Diego, beating the United States, 11-3.  

An American League player has won the MLB Home Run Derby in five of the past six years, but Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is the +300 betting favorite (wager $100 to win $300) for Monday’s event at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. Stanton has 20 home runs heading into the break.

Oakland Athletics right fielder Josh Reddick is playing under a one-year, $6.6 million contract, per Spotrac. 

With Major League Baseball's Aug. 1 trade deadline approaching, Reddick could be dealt within the next three weeks if he and the Athletics don't improve their contract negotiations.

This year's MLB All-Star festivities officially kick off Sunday afternoon with the 18th annual Futures Game from Petco Park in San Diego.

The game gets underway at 7 p.m. ET, with some of the league's top prospects making up the U.S. Team and World Team rosters.

"The fans did a good job" isn't a phrase most would expect to hear in regard to the Midsummer Classic, but a glance at the MLB All-Star rosters makes it hard to disagree.

There will always be snubs, but for the most part, the best of the best will make the trip to San Diego this week for the epic event. It promises to entertain not only because of the names involved and the action on the field, but because of the chess-like moves and decisions that managers must make.

A dash of innovation breathed new life into MLB's Home Run Derby one year ago, with the best sluggers in the world smashing balls over the fence and giving the event its traditional flavor.

With the MLB All-Star break nearly upon us, the vast majority of the players who comprise this week's All-Dud team will have to wait nearly a week before getting a shot at redemption.

For some, the chance to step away from the game and clear their heads will rectify what ails them at the plate. For others, such a lengthy layoff will only exacerbate their struggles. Sadly, there's no over-the-counter remedy available to cure players of the funk, and what works for one may not work for another.

The rosters are set, and the 2016 MLB All-Star Game is a mere three days away.

While the idea that home-field advantage for the World Series is decided in an exhibition game still rankles some baseball fans, the Midsummer Classic remains one of the biggest days on the MLB calendar.
