Like many people after Manny Ramirez was suspended for a violation of the Major League Baseball substance abuse policy, I thought the Dodgers were going to go downhill in historic fashion.

That obviously didn't happen.

The Dodgers have the fourth-best batting average (.278) and the best on-base percentage of any team in baseball (.357).

In addition to these fantastic offensive statistics, the Dodgers are leading the majors in ERA (3.64).

New York Yankee fans are arguably the best in baseball. They are fervent, and they are knowledgeable.

And over the years they have had a lot to be proud of when it comes to their team.

Beginning in 1996, the Yankees constructed a dynasty that saw them win four World Series crowns in five years. They went to the World Series in two of the following three years.

Of that dynastic assemblage, there are only four players left: Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Petitte, and Jorge Posada.

Much credit has been given to Yankees Manager Joe Girardi for his “inspiring and motivating” rant and subsequent ejection on Wednesday night.

Girardi was on a mission to not only light a fire under his team, but to also make opposing manager and “ejection extraordinaire” Bobby Cox proud of his tirade.

He may have started off slow, with the longest homer-less streak of his career, but David Ortiz seems to be back to his old self, and not a moment too soon! 

A three-run shot in Washington, a huge bomb off a Bronx arm, and five other home runs have all come quite recently.

While the critics were all over Ortiz to start the season, they haven't been able to say much as of late.

With the All-Star game less than one month away, I wanted to break down each team in the National League and list the possible All-Star selections.

We all know that every team has to have at least one representative. This rule may not be the most popular, but at least it gives the game some diversity—a dozen Yankees and Red Sox players doesn't appeal to everyone.

The National League looks to break the stranglehold that the American League has had on it for the last decade or so.
