Orlando Cabrera, Jack Wilson Rumored to the Red Sox

The Red Sox rumors just keep coming.

Now, Oakland Athletics shortstop Orlando Cabrera is now rumored for the Red Sox.

Cabrera was traded from the Montreal Expos to the Boston Red Sox in the blockbuster trade that sent beloved Red Sox shortstop Nomar Garciaparra to the Chicago Cubs and propelled the Red Sox to the 2004 World Series Championship.

The Red Sox didn't pickup Cabrera's contract for the 2005 season, and was signed by the Los Angeles Angels, and after the 2007 season was traded Chicago White Sox for 2008.

National Bailout: Strasburg to the Rescue?

Tuesday marks the MLB draft, where the Washington Nationals are expected to make collegiate pitching phenom Stephen Strasburg the first overall pick.

The buzz around the Washington, D.C., area is that Strasburg could be the Nationals' ace pitcher for years to come. It could even be the beginning of an golden era for the dismal Washington franchise.

Memo to Fake Cubs Fans: I Hope You All Fall off the Bandwagon

To begin with the obvious, this season hasn’t began like most Cubs fans expected.  Cubs fans have the right to be pissed off at the lack of production on the field.  If you pay money for tickets, go ahead and be pissed off.

But let’s be rational about it, OK?

Rockies-Cardinals:Jimenez and Rockies Offense Continue Rolling Against Cards

Ubaldo Jimenez has all the talent and potential in the world. He can hit triple digits with his fastball and has a knee-buckling curveball. However, in his third season in the big leagues, his biggest struggle has been inconsistency.

He had no problems on Sunday, giving up only two runs on four hits through eight innings in the Rockies 7-2 victory.

Making a Statement: Mets Pummel Nationals

The Mets did exactly what they needed to do today, as they pummeled the Nationals by the score of 7-0. They immediately produced out of the box, and they were assisted by a couple of shotty plays by the Nationals’ defense. Livan Hernandez was excellent in his seven shutout innings, and the Mets tacked on.

This was certainly the statement that they needed to make with the Phillies coming into town on Tuesday.

Milwaukee Brewers Looking at Trade Options with Boston Red Sox?

According to Boston.com, The Milwaukee Brewers "might" be taking a look at moving shortstop JJ Hardy to Boston in exchange for pitching.  It's a good feature on how baseball GM's analyze and execute trades, with Brewers GM Doug Melvin getting asked a few questions along the way. John Smoltz Nearing Return: Should Red Sox Pitchers Worry?

Last night, John Smoltz made more progress to advance himself on the long road of recovery from last year's season-ending shoulder surgery.

With Pawtucket hosting the visiting Durham Bulls, Smoltzy fired six innings for the PawSox, limiting Durham to one run and one hit with two walks and three strikeouts. 51 of his 74 pitches found the strike zone, as Smoltz retired the last ten batters he faced.

After the game Smoltz said his shoulder felt fine. During the game, he topped out at 91 MPH on the radar gun.

I'm Your Pusherman by J. Ellet Lambie

Pssst.

Yeah, you...come here for a minute. I got something I want to show you.

Now listen, I know why you’re here, you know why you’re here so there’s no need to be squemish about this. You’re jonesing, I can see it all over your face.

That fantasy baseball team of yours is in trouble. You’re sweating for a .300 hitting middle infielder, or maybe a cheap RBI man. Don’t worry, I got your hookup.
