Series Preview: Injured or Not, Mets Must Win Homestand

Click your heels three times and say there’s no place like home. It was the longest road trip the Mets had so far this season, but it felt much longer then the ten day span it took.

Memorial Day: A Reflection of Love and Sports

As I grow a little bit older, I've begun to realize what most people my age start to.

There are now people in our past that have gone on to a better place and we are left with just the memories of them.

Memorial Day can start to really take meaning on all levels of personal importance.

I reflect on memories of my grandmothers, aunt, and my grandfather.

"Gramps" I called him and he was my main man.

I named my son after him and he wears the name proudly.

I'll admit, sports captivate my soul.

Yanks Wallop Rangers to Open Road Trip

The Yankees turned in one of their most complete performances of the season on Memorial Day as they destroyed the first-place Texas Rangers by a score of 11-1.

With Chien-Ming Wang's return on the horizon, Phil Hughes made a strong case to remain the rotation by shutting out the hot-hitting Rangers through eight innings, while Alex Rodriguez led the offensive explosion with a five-hit day.

Here are the grades from Sunday's victory in Arlington.

Brian Knight Please Report to Bob Watson's Office

Brian Knight has some explaining to do—most of it to Bob Watson.

His horrific call in the bottom of the first really got manager Bob Geren heated, except he didn't get thrown out of the game. In fact, it was A's hitting coach Jim Skaalen who was ejected.

Adam Kennedy was on first base via a walk. Kurt Suzuki was up and worked to a full count. The next pitch was inside and Kennedy was running on the play, but Suzuki tried checking his swing.

Brett Wallace: Why Wait?

Brett Wallace, the 13th overall pick in the 2008 First Year Player Draft, is already at Triple-A Memphis. For being a 2008 draft pick, being at Triple-A (or even Double-A for that matter) is unbelievable. Off the top of my head, I can think of only Andrew Miller and Ryan Zimmerman that made it that far in a shorter amount of time.

The Most Fearsome Ball Players of the 1990s

The 90's were an interesting decade for Major League Baseball. They saw a player strike cut a season short, they saw the New York Yankees dominate.... a lot, and they saw some incredible ball players.

We're in the year 2009 now, and most players from the 90's are rarely even spoken of anymore - not all of them though. The best of them have stood the test of time, and my generation now looks back at them fondly as the players we watched when we were little kids.

Others may simply look back at them as great players, the best of their era.

Seattle Mariners: Young Arms Coming Though

The Mariners rotation coming into the 2009 season was considered one of the top in all of baseball. But back then the Mariners rotation look like this. But this was before the JJ Putz trade and what came of that which also included trading Heilman.

1) Felix Hernandez
2) Erik Bedard
3) Brandon Morrow
4) Jarrod Washburn
5) Ryan Rowland-Smith/Carlos Silva

Milwaukee Brewers: Right Where They Should Be

The Brewers certainly aren’t surprising anybody inside their fan base with their performance this year.

As of May 24, they are playing exactly like they should be, as Milwaukee sits atop the National League Central Division, tied with St. Louis.

Fantasy Baseball Killed My Pet Turtle

Coach Chris Murphy sent out an open invitation for hitters who felt they were doing well to meet in his office on Sunday.  We at Bleacher Report put a balding midget in a Red Sox uniform to pose as Dustin Pedroia to get the inside scoop.
