Philadelphia Phillies at the Quarter Pole: A 41-Game Review

The Philadelphia Phillies are a quarter of the way through their defense of their World Series championship.  Thus far, through the accolades and mourning, this Phillies team has proven to be as strong as the team that brought home the title in 2008.

Takin On the Los Angeles Angels

Has proved to be wild hasn't it?  A 3-1 loss on Friday night with tons of baserunners being left on base all night by both clubs was interesting to watch.  It was exciting and frustrating at the same time with my hopes soaring as the Dodgers would put men on only to feel frustration as they left those runners on to the tune of 26 stranded runners!!! 26!!

But, losses like that while frustrating I don't worry too much about since the bats are still booming so you know its only a matter of time till the runs start piling up again.

Could Nolan Reimold Win the AL Rookie of the Year Award?

Before the season started, most analysts were calling for David Price, Elvis Andrus, Matt Wieters, or Travis Snider to win the AL Rookie of the Year award.

Orioles' outfielder Nolan Reimold would probably be only the third Oriole considered, after super-prospect Wieters and Japanese import Koji Uehara. But after being called up to the majors on May 14, Reimold has quickly shown he is very capable of placing himself in the discussion.

It's Time for Brett Gardner To Replace Nick Swisher in Starting Lineup

Nick Swisher heard MVP chants early in the season, when he recorded 13 hits, 10 of which were extra-base hits, in his first 10 games.

The fact that Swisher's career batting average was .243 meant nothing to Yankee fans, who began talking about how the trade for the former Ohio State Buckeye would make the Yankees' season. As Borat would say, "Ehh not so much!"

Omir-Acle for the Mets: Santos' Homer in the Ninth Pushes New York Past Boston

Whew! My adrenaline is pumping! What a game—a possible World Series preview with so much hype. The Saturday night game in Boston definitely lived up to that hype in a 3-2 Mets victory thanks to a two-run home run by Omir Santos in the top of the ninth inning.

The Mystique of Yankee Stadium Is Gone

Today I was lucky enough to go to "The Palace that George Built," and frankly, it was so much nicer than the old one.  The wide open aisles and the many different eating establishments made it much more enjoyable than the old Yankee Stadium.

In doing all of this, the Yankees have created a truly state-of-the-art facility but, the one problem that I found is it is missing the Yankee Stadium mystique it once had across the street.

Phillies-Yankees Game II: Jayson Werth To Replace Hugh Hefner

Lidge has greasy fingers. And when “grease is the word,” Madson’s the cure.

Mark my words.

Brian Matusz: The Future Ace of the Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles are currently a team who are struggling (17-25, 5th place in AL East), but have one of the most talented minor league systems in baseball. Star outfielder Nolan Reimold and pitcher Brad Bergesen have already earned callups, while others, like Matt Wieters, David Hernandez, Chris Tillman, Brandon Snyder, Jake Arrieta, Troy Patton, and others are well on their way. There are tons of questions surrounding the future on who the future ace will be.

The Biblical Baseball Team

(Written in collaboration with my brother, David Kienzler: For his commentary on the team, which is a highly amusing read, please click here.)

This is the third installment of my series of Sports Teams Made up of Fake Characters (in this case that point is debatable depending on your belief system, but you get my point).

New York Yanks Come from Behind in Ninth to Squash Defending Champs

The Philadelphia Phillies were playing like the defending World Series Champions up until the ninth inning.

The game on Saturday afternoon seemed all but over when Alex Rodriguez stepped up to the plate with closer Brad Lidge on the mound.
