Riding the St. Louis Cardinal Roller Coaster

Is this the way it's going to be? Down one day, up the next, down the day after that?  Let me know so I can take some motion sickness pills.

The Cardinals lost again last night to the Pirates, this time with St. Louis trying for late inning dramatics and failing.  One day after the high of an offensive explosion, the Redbirds again struggled, posting only two hits until late in the ballgame.

Milwaukee Brewers News (4/9)

Wednesday’s Game: Brewers 4, Giants 2

Record: 1-1 Today’s Game

Ransom! Nady! Bruney? Are These The Yankees?

I'm sorry, but I gotta say it. I've been down this same road too many times in recent years.

It started off in the first inning, this new guy C.C.Sabathia can't throw strikes. After all that money, all that preseason hype, and that super Spring Training work, the guy hits the big stage and just plain sucks.

Not only was he terrible, but he showed that other Yankees trait of late, a lack of enthusiasm.

Where does that lack of enthusiasm come from?

Better Team of The Decade: Red Sox Or Yankees?

The Red Sox and Yankees rivalry is about to heat up. These two teams are probably the two best teams of the past 10 years, but which one has been better?

So lets get this going...

Overall regular season record: Over the past eight seasons, the Yankees' overall regular season record is 775-521. That includes three straight seasons of over 100 wins and seven seasons of over 90. This also includes six division championships.

Tim Lincecum: Not So "Cy Young" Performance

Usually when we think of America's pastime we think of mowed green grass, a clean infield, white bases, a soda, hot dogs, and the warm sunny weather...unless you open your season in San Francisco.

The San Francisco Giant's opening day against the Brewers was met with cold, rainy weather. If this was a few years ago the Giants probably would have had the weather beat them, over the opposing team.

Then, here comes the Giants one glimmer of hope, "The Washington Rifle," Tim Lincecum.

If It's Monday....it Must Be Cooperstown

This kid is having a hard time leaving his childhood behind.  I've been a life long baseball fan, carrying a dream of visiting all of these new ballparks around this great country of ours.
In 2000, I decided to put my business on cruise control, pack a duffel bag, include a box of fine cigars, throw in my golf clubs, fire up the "Red Beast," and head East on I 40 out of Scottsdale, AZ.

MLB Opening Day: The Mets Shine through Rain, Sleet, and Snow

On a miserable 37 degree, rainy and snowy day, The Mets were ready to start the new '09-'10 season.

Johan showed the critics that his surgically repaired knee and rumored-to-be-sore elbow were perfectly fine in 5 and 2/3 work, including 3 and 2/3 innings of hitless ball and seven strikeouts. The only concern was the four walks he issued, but you can chalk that up to poor weather.

After that, Sean Green finished off the next four batters and the Mets and Mets fans eagerly waited for the colossal eighth-ninth punch of the new look, New York Mets bullpen.

25 Ways To Know If You're a Cincinnati Reds Fan

This article is the sixth in the series of "25 Ways to Know if You're a ____ Fan". People have enjoyed reading about their favorite teams and how to know that they belong to that fan base. The next team in the series is the Cincinnati Reds.

So, Cincinnati, here is your list!

Age Before Beauty: 41-Year-Old Makes World Series History

For years leading up to 1992 the Great White North, known as Toronto Blue Jays to the Locals, had been quietly building a team ready to compete for a World Series. There had been many successful seasons leading up to this one but the team always fell short. Something had been missing.

The big news that offseason was the signing of Jack Morris to a three year contract.  Morris had just come off a World Series title and MVP performance with his hometown team the Minnesota Twins.

Can Jason Motte Handle The St. Louis Closer Role?

Quite a conversion. Switching from catcher to pitcher in 2006, Motte has shown all the talent needed to be an everyday MLB player. But does Jason Motte possess the mindset of an everyday closer?

Motte showed his arsenal during his short 12-game stint last season, posting a .82 ERA and well over a strikeout an inning.

He has a fastball that can touch 100 MPH, a fantastic slider and a decent curveball. Seems to be more than enough for a dominant closer.
