Boston Red Sox: Four Prospects Who Can Make an Impact in 2009

Only two days away from now is an ALCS rematch; the Rays square off vs. the Red Sox at Fenway Park on Opening Day.

Since I don't get to see the Sox play too much, I really did jump up and down for a minute when I found out this game was getting picked up by ESPN2.

The Red Sox have been praised by many this off-season for adding a whole lot of "depth" to their team.

They have done this by bringing in Brad Penny, Takashi Saito, John Smoltz, Ramon Ramirez, and Rocco Baldelli.

Baseball, Wrigley Field, and the Cubs: Need I Say More?

Posing the question about the greatest sports month of the year is right up my alley. It's such an easy question to answer for me, so I'm going to make you sweat it out a bit before I tell you.

The Pro Football season starts in September, but I live in Chicago and I'm a Bear fan, so why would that be my favorite month? Watching an offense for most of my life that would make paint drying seem exciting doesn't get my blood boiling for the start of Fall.

MLB Playoff Predictions and Awards: It's a Fast and Furious Adventure

I just saw Adventureland last night. Fantastic movie. It’s going to remind you a lot of Superbad, with Jesse Eisenberg playing the Michael Cera character to a tee. The only problem is that it came out the same weekend as Fast and Furious.

Case in point: I went to a midnight showing of F & F, and the theater was packed. I mean, seriously, I was in the second row, and my friends and I walked in 25 minutes early. And it was in the big theater.

Cubs And Red Sox Top Pre-Season Power Rankings

As the season is about to begin, I take a look at the Pre Season Power Rankings.

1. Chicago Cubs

The offense has been very consistent over the past few years, and their pitching just looks great.  Granted, Rich Harden needs to stay healthy, Carlos Zambrano needs to maintain his temper, and the same for Milton Bradley.

Reds Vs Futures: Reds Get Revenge and Win 9-6

Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto pitched well in the final warm up before the regular season begins. Cueto looked dominant as he pitched four innings giving up only one run and four hits while he walked one and struck out one.

Daniel Ray Hererra added yet another scoreless inning to end a very pleasant spring and surprising many.

Reds pitcher Pedro Viola gave the Futures team some hope as he gave up five runs on six hits including two dingers in the 8th.

Dodgers, Giants Standing in The Diamondbacks Way

The 2009 National League's Western Division shapes up to be one of the tougher divisions in baseball.

Last year, the division was sub-par at best. Only the Los Angeles Dodgers, who won the division with a 84-78 record, and the Arizona Diamondbacks, with a 82-80 record, as the only two teams that finished above .500.

This season could be a different story.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to repeat as division champions with the acquisition of former Diamondback Orlando Hudson, Randy Wolf and the re-signings of Casey Blake and Manny Ramirez.

Gwynn Jr. Having Trouble Living Up To His Name

Tony Gwynn Jr. will begin yet another season in the minor leagues for the Milwaukee Brewers, as he was sent down to AAA-Nashville earlier this week.

Gwynn was drafted by Milwaukee in the second round of the 2003 MLB Draft, and made his MLB debut three years later. It was almost 24 years to the day, since his father made his jump to the majors.

Tony Gwynn Sr. was one of the greatest hitters in the game, but somehow that skill was not passed on to little Anthony.

Even Gwynn Jr.'s uncle Chris had a decent MLB career.

Colorado Rockies Looking For a Strong April

Two years ago in 2007, the Colorado Rockies stumbled out of the gate in April. They finished the month 10-16, good enough for last place in the National League West.

The team found their groove in mid-May.
