Yesterday I sat down to watch the United States and Puerto Rico compete in an elimination game for the World Baseball Classic. It was the top of the ninth and a chant of unrivaled irony rained from the stands.

The Puerto Rico supporters began chanting "Go Home, Gringos!"

The irony of this chant is that it was being chanted in English, but that is beside the point.

Fast forward 30 minutes or so and David Wright is up to bat. Bases loaded, two outs. As Wright hits a gorgeous shot down the foul line, the crowd is silent.

The 2009 Fantasy Draft for the keeper Grand Slam league in its 10th season came and went on Saturday, March 14. After the first seven rounds were completed with keepers being claimed, the real draft began.

Here's how the second free agent round played out:

1. (13 overall) NC Hair Pie Lovers selected David Price (SP, Tampa Bay)

Today, I woke up and thought to myself, “It’s going to be a bad day. Worst-case scenario, I’ll be late for my midterm, spill juice over my favorite shirt, and somehow lock myself out.”

So being the clairvoyant master I am, I left for my midterm extra early, wore the ugliest t-shirt I had, and made sure to stuff my key deep into my jeans. 

All was good, right?

Todd Helton is back.

Though two and a half weeks remain before rosters are set for Opening Day, Helton is already partying like it's 2001 and we've all got spots on the guest list.

Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler, Michael Young, David Murphy, Nelson Cruz, Frank Francisco, Kevin Millwood, and Vicente Padilla are just a few of the players that have spots on the 25-man roster already locked up.

Other names like Josh Rupe, Joaquin Arias, German Duran, Brandon Boggs, Brendan Donnelly, and Andruw Jones are players that are still competing for a spot on the 25-man roster.

No matter where Pablo Sandoval ends up playing on the field for the San Francisco Giants in 2009 and beyond, there's one thing that's for certain: The kid is going to hit.

The burly Venezuelan has done nothing to diminish his standing as one of the Giants' best young hitters this spring. In 38 at-bats in March, Sandoval has hit .447 with two home runs and six RBI.

That's right...a .447 batting average.

Today, I will unleash my top 10 prospects heading into the 2009 Baseball Season.

I will give analysis on each player, and whether any of them will make an impact with their teams this season or in the future.

The only rule I have is to discard David Price and Travis Snider from this list, as they were in the Majors for a decent part at the end of the season and will probably make the roster on Opening Day due to their success...Enjoy!

With one at bat, one beautiful swing delivering a crushing blow to Red Sox Nation, Aaron Boone permanently cemented himself into the hearts of all Yankees fans. 

It may seem unfathomable that a man with no prior connection to the most storied franchise in sports could in one moment place himself alongside the memories of countless baseball legends.

However, Boone did just that, after putting up less than mediocre numbers for half a season at third base for the Yanks.
