There's an epidemic-like problem facing pitchers in Major League Baseball, and this one has nothing to do with arms, elbows or shoulders.

Boston Red Sox All-Star third baseman Pablo Sandoval suffered a left foot injury against the Nationals on April 14. He exited the game in the third inning after being hit by a pitch, and his status is unclear.

Curt Schilling was treated for mouth cancer nearly a year ago.

On Saturday, the former Red Sox pitcher published a powerful piece in The Players' Tribune entitled "Letter to My Younger Self."
