The Philadelphia Phillies have been unsuccessful at finding anyone to take Ryan Howard off their hands, but general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. doesn't sound like he's going to keep the 35-year-old first baseman around much longer. 

Speaking on 97.5 The Fanatic on Friday, via Dan Toman of TheScore.com, Amaro was very frank about where Howard stands with the Phillies:

Gilberto Suarez entered a guilty plea on Tuesday for his role in the illegal smuggling of Los Angeles Dodgers star Yasiel Puig. Suarez pleaded guilty to an alien smuggling conspiracy charge.   

For now, Alex Rodriguez has one job: help the New York Yankees at the plate. 

The Cleveland pitching staff got a boost on Tuesday as the team signed right-handed starting pitcher Gavin Floyd.

The list of potential fits to fill the Seattle Mariners' hole in right field seems to be shrinking by the day.

Melky Cabrera, likely Seattle's top target, agreed to a three-year deal with the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, per Bruce Levine of 670 The Score.

The Los Angeles Angels have upgraded their already-potent offense by acquiring outfielder Matt Joyce from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for relief pitcher Kevin Jepsen.

Several big names changed addresses during the winter meetings earlier this week, but there are still plenty of premier players available to be had via trades.

This MLB offseason is quickly shaping up to be one of the most active in recent memory. There weren't that many top-notch free agents, but the ones who were available were franchise-changers. Of course, a shortage of free agents means the trade market is a hotbed for new rumors and player movement.
