King Felix to the Nation? Mariners Would Be Smart to Make It Happen

The Seattle Mariners are currently in third place in the AL west (1.5 GB) and have a 16-16 record.

New general manager Jack Zduriencik said this offseason that the Mariners front office wants to acquire players than can have the team competing now and long term.

The Top 15 Outfielders in the American League

This is actually the beginning of my new series where I will run down the top players at the position they play at. Starting with outfielders which is a very tough position to play.

Anyways I will run down the overall best outfielders in the American League. So without further ado, here is my list of the Top 15 Present Day Outfielders.

These are all present day and are based on what kind of player they are today.

Jake Fox: A Forgotten Man?

By picking him in the third round of the 2003 draft, the Cubs seemed to have high hopes for University of Michigan product, Jake Fox.

Yet here we are six years later, and he has played in a grand total of seven games and tallied 14 at-bats for the big league club. So what went wrong?

Jorge Posada: The Heart and Soul of the New York Yankees

Jorge Posada is one of the most underrated Yankees ever. He has been a staple behind the plate for the Yankees since entering the league in 1995. Even at the ripe old age of 37, Jorge is still remains as a force offensively but has declined a bit defensively. Along with his age comes his injuries which prove to be very costly to the team.

With Jorge De La Rosa on the Mound, the Colorado Rockies are Always in the Game

Jorge De La Rosa's stats are deceiving.  His 0-2 record in five starts may look like he's struggling early on in the year.  He's posting a 3.90 ERA, and a 1.37 WHIP. He's only owned in 0.8% of ESPN fantasy baseball leagues.  However, De La Rosa is doing much better than what his stats are saying.

In his five starts on the year, De La Rosa has pitched 27.2 innings, and has struck out 23.  He's walked just 12 batters, and has given up just one home run in that span, in his last start vs the Padres.

The MLB's Top 10 Second Basemen Since 1980

Number four in my Best of...from 1980-Present, second base was another tough one.

While the top four guys are on this list, without question, it gets tough after that, and where to rank numbers one-four was also tough.

As always I look forward to your hearing your take on my list, so let's get started with number 10...

Casey at the Bat | Carlos Silva "Injury" Odds

Carlos Silva will be mysteriously injured soon. It may not be tomorrow, it may not be next week, but it will be soon.

In 1995 Randy Johnson was billed as a “stopper” because the team could count on the lanky lefty to stop any losing streak it may encounter, and Silva’s been exactly the opposite so far this season.

Ryan Rowland-Smith will be coming off the disabled list, and guys like Jason Vargas and Chris Jakubauskus have show enough promise to warrant the team keeping the more productive pitchers in the rotation as opposed to Silva.

Baseball Says Goodbye to Dom DiMaggio

Dominic DiMaggio, who spent time as a Boston Red Sox center fielder but was overshadowed by his older brother Joe, passed away Friday at his Massachusetts home.

He was surrounded by family and a replay of Thursday night’s Sox game was on in the background.

Cubs Likely to Be Without Aramis Ramirez for at Least 15 Days

As rookie Randy Wells made his first career start against the Brewers tonight, Aramis Ramirez left the game in excruciating pain in the third inning. Ramirez dove to his right and landed on the third base foul line.

Ryan Braun pulled a rocket ground ball to the hot corner, and Ramirez quickly dove and appeared to have made the play. But before he could get up and throw to first, he was doubled over in pain laying belly down on the ground.

An Open Letter to Jo-Jo Reyes

Hey Jo-Jo, how's it going?

Just thought I'd let you in on a little secret: you're not "the man."

In fact, you are far from it.

When your team loses, according to the Peachtree TV crew, 15 straight of your appearances, it's not them, it's you.

You make me utterly sick every time you step on the mound because I know what's about to happen.

Hold on, I take that back, two out of three times I know what's going to happen.

Your inconsistencies bring tears to my eyes.

But, don't worry.
