Thanks Cliff Lee: It Was Good While it Lasted

Though it isn’t official yet, the Phillies have reportedly traded for Toronto Blue Jays’ ace Roy Halladay.

The only con is that the Phillies likely have traded away ace Cliff Lee in the process. There is still a chance he may not be included in the deal, though it is unlikely.

The deal will certainly be followed with mixed emotions from Phillies fans, especially considering what Lee did for them last year.

Mike Lowell: What The Boston Red Sox Should Do With Him?

The Boston Red Sox are considered to be one of the more classy and intelligent organizations in the MLB. If the Red Sox were to trade Mike Lowell, it would be by far the biggest mistake Theo Epstein will have made. Yes that's right, worse than the signing of Edgar "Rentanerror" Renteria.

Mike Lowell has done more than what the Red Sox had initially asked of him. He was a just an addition to the Josh Beckett deal, a guy that was thrown into the trade, to complete the transaction. What Florida really said was, by the way you can have Mike Lowell.

Mariners Supposedly In On Three-Way-Deal For Cliff Lee

Whoa.

This isn't final, for starters, but the rumor is starting to snowball. The gist of it goes like this:

Seattle gets: Cliff Lee

Philadelphia gets: Roy Halladay

Toronto gets: A whole bunch of prospects. Mariners will supposedly send two or more from this bunch: Brandon Morrow, Phillipe Aumont and Michael Saunders.

Breaking News: Cliff Lee Headed to Seattle in Three-Way, Blockbuster Deal

Multiple sources have been reporting over the last four hours that a blockbuster trade between the Seattle Mariners, Philadelphia Phillies, and Toronto Blue Jays is on the verge of being a done deal.
The trade would send Roy Halladay to the Phillies, Cliff Lee to the Mariners, one Mariners prospect to the Blue Jays, two Mariners prospects to the Phillies, and two Phillies prospects to the Blue Jays.
This deal is also dependent on Roy Halladay signing an extension with the Phillies, which is apparently all but a formality.

How the Lackey and Halladay Moves Play Into the Hand of the Braves

There were two major moves this week in baseball.

John Lackey, the best pitcher on the free market, signed with the Boston Red Sox.

Roy Halladay was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies, Cliff Lee was sent to the Mariners, and the Blue Jays received prospects.

There are a couple of ways this plays into the Braves' hand.

First of all, the Los Angeles Angels have lost their ace.

Second, the Seattle Mariners acquire their new ace to serve at the top of their rotation along with Cy Young Award Candidate Felix Hernandez.

Big Day in Baseball Means Big Moves for Red Sox

Phew!

Baseball is recovering from the biggest day of this off-season thus far. The Boston Red Sox were at the middle of a lot of the days news, even if they were not involved with the biggest name.

Halladay Nears Deal To Become Phillies' Ace

Roy Halladay was in Philadelphia today with his agent, which likely will signify the former Toronto Blue Jays' ace arrival in Philadelphia and former ace Cliff Lee's departure.

The report was cited on ESPN.com.

Cliff, we hardly knew ya.

Seattle is the third team involved.

Along with Lee, according to Sport Radio 610-WIP on the Howard Eskin show, prospect Dominic Brown will be part of the deal from the Phillies.

I am not sure who Seattle gives up, but they probably get Brown in the deal.

A-Rod Minus K-Hud and Other New York Yankees Superstitions

Most athletes have good luck charms and superstitions.

Lucky socks. Not changing their underwear. Rally monkeys. Beards during playoffs.

But Alex Rodriguez had a lucky charm and superstition in one, according to Yankees fans anyway.

Kate Hudson was the “thing” that made A-Rod great in the 2009 season, helping him lead the Yankees to win the World Series.

Seattle Mariners Acquire Cliff Lee in Blockbuster Deal

The Seattle Mariners are part of a three team deal with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies that will send Roy Halladay to the Phillies, and net the Mariners All Star and Cy Young award winning pitcher Cliff Lee.

After losing out on All Star CF Curtis Granderson in the one blockbuster trade completed at the Winter Meetings between the Yankees, Tigers, and Diamondbacks, Jack Zdureincik smartly held off of the Tigers ridiculously high asking price of P Phillipe Aumont, P Brandon Morrow, and P Shawn Kelley, to start negotiations for Granderson.

Silent No More: A Declaration for the Forgotten MLB Teams

I try to keep it to myself.  I try to just let it slide.  I try to just move on and say, "They will do better next time."

Unfortunately, they never do better.

I'm tired of the larger sports media outlets simply getting things wrong when publishing "top" lists.

When I say "wrong," I mean completely ridiculous and not even arguable.  It is one thing to post an opinion that is arguable, but it is another thing to post it when it is just plain wrong and conveniently focused on one part of the country.
