Orioles Top Prospect No. 15: Brandon Cooney

D.C. area fans have become accustomed to hearing chants of "COOOOOOOOLLLLEEEEEEEY!" at Washington Redskins. By the time this big Florida Atlantic grad hits Baltimore there will most certainly be chants of "COOOOOONNNEEEEEEY!" And be certain, Brandon Cooney is most certainly on his way.

Cooney is one of many Florida Atlantic alum who have found great success with the Orioles.

The Washington Senators Played a Part in Baseball's Free Agent History

The 1971 Washington Senators were an embarrassingly bad baseball team.

After owner/general manager Bob Short traded the core of his team, pitcher Joe Coleman, third baseman Aurelio Rodriguez and shortstop Eddie Brinkman, to the Detroit Tigers for over-the-hill pitcher Denny McLain and a bunch of guys named Joe, there were more holes in the lineup than players to fill them.

This Guy's All Wet: The Los Angeles Angels New Good Luck Charm

The Los Angeles Angels had a huge night on Thursday.

First and foremost the Halos got to watch John Lackey—in potentially his last game with the club—pitch at his best and hold the Yankees in check for 6 2/3 innings.

Secondly, the club managed to pull off a huge comeback against the vaunted bullpen of the New York Yankees and force a game six in New York on Saturday night.

Lastly—and most importantly—the Angels finally found a new good luck charm.

That’s right ladies and gentlemen, the days of the Rally Monkey and Thunder Sticks has come and gone.

With Phillies Cleaning Up in NL, Philadelphia Isn't a Green City, It's a Red One

Philadelphia. The City of Brotherly Love. A fan base classified, though often unfairly, as unruly and vicious.

A blue collar city where its residents work hard and expect the same from its professional sports teams.

You see, that's all Philadelphia fans want from their teams. Leave it all out on the playing field. Give it everything you've got. If you push yourself to the limit and fall short, so be it. You lost honorably.

TBS Takes Away Postseason Luster For Baseball Fans

A Major League Baseball season lasts a long time. Very few fans are able to watch all 162 games that their favorite team plays. With day games and night games, weekend games and weekday games, the thought of watching a team religiously is nearly impossible.

MLB Umpire Newbies are Outta Here, Veteran Officials To Call World Series

It was unofficially announced last night that Major League Baseball will only be using umpires with previous World Series experience for the Fall Classic this season.

The move comes as a result of numerous botched calls throughout the first two rounds of the postseason.

Scioscia And Girardi Play A Game Of "Whatever You Can Do, I Can Do Worse"

Mike Scioscia and Joe Girardi played a game of “What ever you can do, I can do worse” last night.

In one of the worst managed playoff games in quite some time, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outlasted the New York Yankees 7-6 to take Game Five of their best-of-seven ALCS and force a Game Six in the Bronx Saturday night.

This was a game that really had three parts to it.

Angels' John Lackey Thwarted in Game Five...Will He Stay in Los Angeles?

Los Angeles Angels pitcher John Lackey could be the most sought free agent in MLB’s upcoming offseason and up 4-0 with two outs in the top of the seventh inning in Game Five of the American League Championship Series, Lackey was fired up about being taken out of the game.

Although the Yankees staged a furious rally after Lackey’s exit, the Angels used a determined seventh-inning comeback to slip away with a 7-6 win, sending the series back to New York where rain may be on tap for Saturday’s Game Six.
