During the Chicago Cubs-Pittsburgh Pirates NL Wild Card Game on Wednesday night, Chi-Town rookie Kyle Schwarber crushed a home run literally out of PNC Park.

It was his third RBI of the game and left Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole visibly frustrated. 

The blast made some Cubs history. Schwarber became the youngest player to homer in the postseason for Chicago in 83 years:

The New York Yankees were eliminated from postseason play Tuesday after falling to the Houston Astros, 3-0, in front of their home crowd, and general manager Brian Cashman took some time afterward to reflect on a deal that nearly materialized at this summer's trade deadline. 

The Houston Astros stumbled at times down the stretch of the 2015 regular season, but those struggles weren't evident Tuesday night as they downed the New York Yankees, 3-0, in the American League Wild Card Game at Yankee Stadium. 

Who needs a full complement of rest heading into the MLB playoffs? Certainly not Houston Astros ace Dallas Keuchel.

The dominant southpaw took the mound on short rest for the first time in his career Tuesday in the do-or-die American League Wild Card Game and shut out the New York Yankees in six innings on the way to a 3-0 victory. In all, Keuchel notched seven strikeouts and only allowed three hits in those six frames, silencing a raucous crowd at Yankee Stadium.

Despite finishing with the worst record in the National League West, the Colorado Rockies will retain Walt Weiss as their manager through next season, per Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Rockies general manager Jeff Bridich confirmed the news later on in the night.

With six new teams in the mix along with a few familiar faces, the MLB postseason boasts plenty of intriguing storylines.

The Wild Card Game is now in its fourth year and has been a huge success, highlighted by last year's winners—the San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals—meeting in the World Series. This season features another pair of exciting matchups.      

New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey did not attend Tuesday's mandatory workout as his club gears up for Friday's Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.  

Dan Jennings' tenure as manager of the Miami Marlins lasted just four months, as the team will not bring back the first-year skipper in 2016.   

Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reported that Jennings would not return as manager.
