Carlos Correa and the Houston Astros had the Kansas City Royals on the ropes. But they couldn't provide the knockout punch.

The defending American League champions rallied for five runs in the top of the eighth inning Monday to pick up a shocking 9-6 win in Game 4 of an American League Division Series. The comeback set up a Game 5 in Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was trying to do something nice for a local team.

The Houston Astros were leading the Kansas City Royals 6-2 heading into the eighth inning Monday, just six outs away from advancing to the American League Championship Series.

Abbott, ever the opportunist, tweeted out a congratulatory message. But he jumped the gun.

Jake Arrieta was far from perfect Monday night, but the Chicago Cubs managed to slug their way to victory in a pivotal Game 3 against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Powered by their young stars, the Cubs blasted six home runs against Michael Wacha and Co. to take a 2-1 lead in the National League Division Series.

Kyle Schwarber, Starlin Castro, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Jorge Soler and Dexter Fowler each hit a homer, and Wacha couldn't escape the fifth inning. The Cubs became the first team in postseason history to have six different players hit a home run in one game.

After Texas won the first two games of the American League Divisional Series on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays, it failed to finish the sweep at home during Sunday's 5-1 loss. Marco Estrada saved his team's season with a clutch pitching performance and earned the victory behind 6.1 innings of five-hit, one-run ball.

The New York Mets can't get their Game 2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series back, but they can at least take solace in the fact that Major League Baseball considers Chase Utley’s slide into second base during Game 2 worthy of a suspension.

Troy Tulowitzki belted a three-run homer in the top of the sixth to help lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 5-1 win over the Texas Rangers in Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Sunday night.

With the win, the Blue Jays forced a Game 4 on Monday and put the pressure on the Rangers to try and end the series before having to go back to Toronto.

The New York Mets announced shortstop Ruben Tejada suffered a fractured right fibula following a takeout slide from Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley in the seventh inning of Saturday night's National League Division Series matchup.
