2010 Fantasy Baseball: Kinsler, Tulo, Rasmus Hot; Jeter, Johnson, Kershaw Not

Let’s take a look at some of the bigger stories that developed yesterday:

Three Hot

 Texas Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler

There was a lot to like from the Rangers last night, from their offensive explosion to Derek Holland (5 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 8 K, W), who has a chance to emerge in the Rangers rotation not only for the final few weeks of 2010, but for 2011 as well.

Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado Rockies Keep Rolling with 9-2 Win Over Cincinnati Reds

The Rockies just won't quit.

On Wednesday night they took their third straight from the Cincinnati Reds and their sixth straight overall with a convincing 9-2 win.

Aaron Cook looked good in his return to Coors Field before getting a line drive hit off of his heel. He went five innings and gave up just one run in a shaky first inning. After that inning, however, he looked like the vintage Aaron Cook.

Colorado Rockies Still in The Hunt For October

Alright, I admit it: I had given up hope on these Rockies.

After an encouraging sweep of the Atlanta Braves at home, the final win coming on a nine-run come-from-behind victory, the Rockies went back on the road and looked lifeless again.

Luckily, they managed to run into a win in San Francisco, which kept their hopes briefly alive.

They weren't dead yet.

Two Reasons Why Carlos Gonzalez Is Most Exciting Player In Baseball

As the baseball season dwindles down to meaningless games, teams start to call up the youngsters or even the long journeymen of the minor leagues. However, the Colorado Rockies are still playing for something. The playoffs.

The Rockies used to be known for the big two: Larry Walker and Todd Helton. While Walker has since retired and Helton is hanging on by a thread, the Rockies have found their new centerpiece, Carlos Gonzalez.

Ubaldo Jimenez Sets Colorado Rockies Record With 18 Wins

It wasn't pretty, but it worked.

The fifth time was the charm for Ubaldo Jimenez.

The right-hander picked up his 18th win of the season, a new Rockies record, as he was just good enough to pick up the win in another crucial game for the Rockies, this time coming against the team with the best record in the National League, the Cincinnati Reds.

The Rockies overcame a 4-0 deficit to win 10-5.

Jimenez labored through six innings, wiggling out of a bases-loaded jam in both the fifth and sixth innings and giving up four runs in the third inning.

Colorado Rockies Prove They Can Never Be Counted Out

In 2007 it was unbelievable. In 2009 it was exciting. In 2010 it is becoming annoying.

As soon as it looks like the Colorado Rockies are dead in the water, they take another breath and show that they are not quite done yet.

On Sunday, the Rockies defeated the San Diego Padres 4-2 at Petco Park, completing a three-game sweep. It was the first sweep on the road for the Rockies in the entire 2010 campaign.

The Rockies won on great pitching from Jorge De La Rosa and something that has eluded the club throughout the season, clutch hitting.

Colorado Rockies Win and Carlos Gonzalez Makes His Case

Carlos Gonzalez decided to show the country what the big deal is about.

Colorado Rockies Cook Up a Victory

Can the 2010 season for the Colorado Rockies get any more strange?

With a 4-3 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday night, the Rockies moved closer in the standings to the Padres in the West than they are to the Phillies in the Wild Card. All of this coming a work week after being within three-and-a-half games of the Phillies.

Such is life for the Colorado Rockies in 2010.

Colorado Rockies: Don't Count Them Out Just Yet

As the calendar turns to September, baseball races are really starting to heat up.

The NL Wild Card has a few possible candidates: the Phillies lead the Giants by two games and are 5.5 up on the fading Cardinals.

The Rockies find themselves 6.5 games out of the Wild Card lead after a seemingly season-killing, eight-game losing streak at the end of July. They are still 7.5 games out of the NL West, despite the Padres' continued slide.

Colorado Rockies Take Tough Loss

Two games...that was two games.

The Rockies just dropped one of the most emotionally exhausting games I’ve ever seen, 12-11. Hey, it’s football season, so I guess they needed to have a football game score.

The big number now is 6.5 games. If the Rockies had won, it would have been 4.5 games. That’s how big it is to play the team currently in the lead of the National League wild-card race, the Philadelphia Phillies.
