Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts – 5/10/10

Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight, May 10: Who the Heck Is Brennan Boesch?

After a brief Mother’s Day weekend break, Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight is back with everything you need to know from Monday night’s action…

HITTERS

Hitter of the day: Carlos Ruiz (4-for-5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI)

Fantasy Baseball: Why It's Time To Grab Carlos Pena, Trade Austin Jackson

This is the time of the year that most trading happens. Owners become impatient with slow starters or don't think guys can keep up fast starts. Here are players to buy and sell before it's too late.

Catcher

Buy: Brian McCann (ATL)

Down To The Wire: Gorzelanny's On A Roll!

There's nothing better than when a young rookie gets called up early on in the season and has early success. We've already seen it this year with Starlin Castro. Castro was called up before the weekend series and all he did was hit .333 with a homer, double, two runs, and six RBIs. Guys like Castro are definitely recommended, but here are other players that deserve your attention.

Fantasy Baseball Around the Majors: May 9: Dallas Braden, Clayton Kershaw Shine

Clearly, Dallas Braden’s perfect game was the biggest story of the day, but there certainly was plenty more worth discussing.  How about Clayton Kershaw out-dueling Ubaldo Jimenez?  How about Hunter Pence showing signs of breaking out?  Let’s look at all the stories from yesterday’s games.

Pitchers

Dallas Braden (9.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB, 6 K, W)

What's Wrong With Josh Beckett?

Red Sox ace Josh Beckett got rocked—again—Friday night, allowing nine earned runs in 5 1/3 innings to the Yankees, marking the third time he’s given up seven earned runs or more in a start this season.

Through seven starts (41 innings) in 2010, Beckett is 1-1 with a despicable 7.46 ERA and 1.66 WHIP.

Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers: Week 6 (May 10-16)

It’s time to look at the potential two-start options for the upcoming fantasy week.  If I have someone rated as a three, four or five-star option, they are someone I would definitely use.  A two-star option is someone who is borderline, but I’d strongly lean against it unless I have no other options.  The one-star opti

Around the Majors: May 8: Mark Teixeira, Manny Ramirez & More

Mark Teixeira had a monster day, to say the least.  Francisco Liriano struggled for the first time this season.  Manny Ramirez & Kerry Wood returned from the DL.  Let’s look at these stories and all the rest from yesterday’s games:

Hitters:

MLB Fantasy—Two-Start Pitchers for Week Six: Matt Garza, Barry Zito

Austin Jackson was the centerpiece of the deal that sent Curtis Granderson’s large contract to the New York Yankees. As of Saturday, he is hitting .369/1/9/5, has reached base in 24 consecutive games, and is the odds on favorite to win the American League Rookie of the Year Award.

Derek Holland To Make 2010 Debut

With Matt Harrison heading to the DL, Derek Holland will be recalled to start against the A’s this week, according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (click here for the article).
