Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight 4/6: Orioles' Adam Jones Homers in Opener

As part of our journey to watch and score 162 games this season, Tuesday night featured the Orioles/Rays opener in Tampa.

Game No. 3—Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Adam Jones went 3-for-5 with a single, double, and HR.

Padres' Kyle Blanks, Reds' Drew Stubbs Headline 2010 All-Breakout Team

Opening day and has come and gone, and while it’s clear guys like Jason Heyward will make a fantasy impact this season, it’s also important to keep an eye on the lesser-known sleeper candidates. With that in mind, I present to you the Fantasy Baseball Insiders’ 2010 All-Breakout Team!

Check out the 2009 All-Breakout Team , which featured Billy Butler and Matt Wieters.

Atlanta Braves Outfielder Jason Heyward Is Not Jordan Schafer

One of the best moments of opening day 2010 took place in Atlanta, bottom of the first, two on and Jayson Heyward at the plate.  The crowd, still buzzing from a beautiful day at the ballpark, was prepared yet, in a way, unprepared for what was about to happen.

Last season, a young Braves' outfielder by the name of Jordan Schafer hit the Major League scene with an opening night home run, prompting comments about his bright future as the next Braves center fielder and prompting fantasy owners to drop established names to acquire him off of the wire.  W

Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts: 4/5/10

Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Placido Polanco, Philadelphia Phillies
Polanco hit just 10 HRs last year, but started out with a bang going 3-for-4 with a grand slam and six RBI. Hitting between Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley doesn’t hurt.

Is Toronto's Shaun Marcum Worth a Fantasy Gamble?

It’s easy to forget about Shaun Marcum, as he missed the entire 2009 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.  On opening day, he once again made you pay attention.

Marcum carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning at Texas before giving up a single to Vladimir Guerrero with one out.  If you were simply looking at the box score, you might not be all that impressed by Marcum allowing three runs on two hits and one walk, striking out six over seven innings.  Yeah, it’s impressive, but the fact of the matter is the bottom fell out all in one shot.

Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight 4/5: Braves' Jason Heyward Homers in MLB Debut

In case you missed the news, Monday night signaled the start of Fantasy Baseball Insiders’ journey to watch and score 162 games this season.

In addition to this, we’ll gather all of the fantasy-relevant info from every game each night and organize it in one post for your viewing pleasure. This will feature in-depth observations from our game of the day.

Rounding the Bases: Opening Day

Jimmy Rollins came into the season with a lot of questions, mostly about his power.  A season after his home run total was slashed by more than half, Rollins got off to a great start on Opening Day with two hits (including a triple) and his first stolen base of the season.  I would say that the days of him hitting 30 home runs are in the rear view mirror, but Rollins is still a quality starting shortstop in fantasy, and not every fantasy team can boast having that in today’s climate at the position.

Fantasy Baseball Burning Questions, Opening Day Style

Baseball Professor is attempting to undertake a project of grand importance, one that will unify the fantasy baseball community while simultaneously providing thought-provoking discussion.

This project could only be called one thing – The Sunday Survey.
