BABIP: Looking at the 10 Luckiest Pitchers

Earlier in the week I took a look at the 10 worst hitters BABIP to see who could be in line for a drastic improvement (click here to view). Today, let’s take a look at starting pitchers who have been succeeding, and potentially are sell high candidates, thanks to a tremendous BAIBP (I’m setting it with a 40 inning minimum).

Prospect Report: Jhoulys Chacin

We’ve tracked Jhoulys Chacin in our Prospect Reports (click here for the latest), but as he continues to impress in the minor leagues the time has come to give him his proper respect.  After opening the season at 1-3 with a 4.87 ERA at Double-A, he’s responded by going 4-2 with a 2.41 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 55 K over his past 9 starts (56 i

Fantasy Baseball: A Season Gone...?

On Draft Day, you started the first few rounds banking on  a "sure thing" while backing them up with educated picks through the next 10 or so, feeling confident you'll get the productivity that will keep you competitive throughout the season.

You took Hanley Ramirez, Jose Reyes, Josh Hamilton or Matt Holliday then maybe Manny, B.J. Upton or Quentin followed by Aramis Ramirez, Magglio Ordonez, Votto, Atkins or Uggla.

Later on you took Alexei Ramirez or Peralta along with Nady, Conor Jackson or Lastings Millidge, the list goes on and on.

Fantasy Baseball Tonight 6/19

Derrek Lee hit two homers on the day today, bringing his season total to ten. Anyone who has read this blog at all knows that I am very anti-D-Lee. He had that one great year, and has basically been a good average guy with little power that ends up on the DL a lot. Matches his initials, isn’t that cute?

He is having a pretty good season, but he hasn’t really been injured yet, and I still would not touch him.  If you have him, I would try to cash in on this time and see if you can trade him for someone a little more safe.

The Fantasy Baseball Week 12 Waiver Wire

Fantasy Factory: Hanley Ramirez, Mr. Overrated

The name of the fantasy player in front of the statistics.

It is the most misleading thing in all of fantasy sports.

Everyone, even myself, is completely guilty of doing this exact same thing time and time again. We turn a blind eye to the stats in front of us, and only focus on the name of the player that is involved in the trade.

If the trade is of a mediocre value, possibly an Adam Jones and Tim Wakefield for an Adam Lind type deal, then the names really go away and we focus on what is important. Will that player help you win?

Fantasy Baseball Free Agent Pool – Strikeout Kings

Some reasonably available players to assist you in the Strikeouts category.  Realize that some of these will come with high ERAs & WHIPs because if a Pitcher has low numbers in those categories and a good K total, they’re already spoken for.
