Can Yovani Gallardo Remain an Elite WHIP Pitcher?

If you were to say that Yovani Gallardo is one of the best young pitchers in baseball, no one should give you a funny look or call you crazy.  If he had been healthy last season, maybe the baseball world would regard him among the elite already, but two separate knee injuries limited him to just four starts, certainly slowing his progress.

In 2009, however, he is making his case, posting the following line:

Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers: Week 14

It’s time to look at the potential two-start options for the upcoming fantasy week. If I have someone rated as a three, four or five-star option, they are someone I would definitely use. A two-star option is someone who is borderline, but I’d strongly lean against it unless you have no other options. The one-star options are an absolutely not scenario.

Closer Report: American League

Last week we checked out the National League closers (click here to view), so this week we turn to the American League (all stats given are through Wednesday):

Nick Kappel's Fantasy Focus: Three Prospects to Keep an Eye on

Original Article: Baseball Reflections

Last week’s Fantasy Focus centered around three prime sell-high targets.

This week, we’ll turn our attention to the minor leagues to find out which prospects are most likely to make a fantasy impact this season.

A Scouting Report of Tommy Hanson from 6/23

I finally had an opportunity to watch Tommy Hanson’s last start, which was against the New York Yankees on June 23. His line was not an overly impressive.

Fantasy Trade Target: Lance Berkman

Throughout the years Lance Berkman has proven time and time again that he was a great option for fantasy owners.  A career .299 hitter, he hasn’t hit below .278 since getting a full-time job in 2000.  He’s shown the ability to hit 45 HR, but has consistently been in the 25-35 range.  He’s a perennial threat to eclipse the 100 RBI/100 R plateaus.

Fantasy Baseball Week 11: Winners, Losers, And Waiver Wire Wonders

By Derek of The Sportmeisters

Another week of baseball in the books means another Winners, Losers, and Waiver Wire Wonders blog from the fantasy guru. Keep in mind, the stats I show are the players stats for the week, not on the season. Let’s go!

Fantasy Baseball: Week 12 Rundown

Week 12 Rundown

With interleague play coming to an end, there are many good interstate matchups this week.  This weekend, the Mets will try to even out the season series with the Yankees, with their first series at Citi Field.  Other matchups include the Cubs vs. the White Sox, the Orioles vs. the Nationals and the Indians vs. the Reds.

The Hot 8: Week 12

First and foremost, Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there! Yeah, I know that it feels like just another day to us, but soak it in while you can. Take some time today or if you're like me and stuck working (you call this work?), set aside some time during the week to spend quality time with the kids. Go ahead and take them to a ballgame, or the race track or to a nearby field or park to play. It's OK to do something you want to do today but include them and let them see why you love going to these places so much and how much fun it can be.
