Cup of Coffee: Part 5

This segment is taking forever, but I’m having a good time so I’m going to stick with it.  Here we go, part five.

Why Manny Ramirez is Not a Hall Of Famer

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez was showering when Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins hit a double to win Game 4 of the NLCS 5-4 Monday at Dodger Stadium.

“I was taking a shower,” said Ramirez, 37, a 12-time All-Star selection and nine-time Silver Slugger Award winner. “I came out and saw it on television. Then everybody started coming in and they turned the television off.”

JC's Dodger Line Drives | Oct. 20: Dodgers Extend G.M. Colletti's Deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today they will extend general manager Ned Colletti's contract. After speaking with the team's P.R. department, I was informed that while they will not release the exact number of years in the agreement, the word is it will be a long-term deal.

Manny Ramirez's Shower in Ninth Inning Merits Closing the Gates of Mannywood

If you want to know what Jimmy Rollins's walk-off double looked like from the Dodgers’ bench, don’t ask Manny Ramirez for his vantage point.

"Actually, I was in the shower," Ramirez said. “I only saw the highlight.”

This was the gross response of Ramirez when asked what his thoughts were about Jimmy Rollins' walk-off double.

Highlight?

You do realize that hit sealed your team's defeat and put them one game away from elimination, right?

LA Dodgers Make the Right Call by Signing GM Ned Colletti

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Tuesday afternoon that they are extending the contract of general manager Ned Colletti.

The terms of the agreement were not available, except that it would be a multi-year deal.

"It's a long-term deal and I'll be here for a long time and maybe here for longer than that," said Colletti.

In his four-year tenure as general manager, Colletti has guided the Dodgers to the playoffs three out of four seasons, and helped the team capture back-to-back division titles for the first time since 1977-78.

LA Dodgers' Need to Ink Don Mattingly In Light of Interview with Indians

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported on Tuesday afternoon that Los Angeles Dodgers hitting coach Don Mattingly took part in a phone interview for the unoccupied Cleveland Indians’ managerial job.

Mattingly was said to have a phone conversation sometime last week with Indians’ general manager Mark Shapiro and assistant general manager Chris Antonetti.

"I've wanted to manage a long time and I've been moving in that direction," said Mattingly.

Interesting Tidbits: Five Things I've Learned While Watching TBS

Like many baseball fans, I have spent a good number of hours watching TBS over the past couple weeks. TBS' coverage has been jam-packed with colorful commentary and insight from the brightest baseball minds in the world. Given that the next game TBS will air could be their last of the season, I thought it would be nice to reflect on some of the most memorable things that I have learned.

Dodgers-Phillies: Phillies' Offense, Cliff Lee Dismantle Dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitcher, Hiroki Kuroda was suffering from a herniated disk in his neck last night in Philadelphia. After the subpar performance he put on in Game 3, he might be suffering from whiplash as well.

Kuroda was torched last night for six runs in one-and-a-third innings, as the Phillies beat the Dodgers 11-0 to take a 2-1 advantage in their best-of-seven series.

Dodgers-Phillies: Three Keys For a Blue Crew Victory in NLCS Game Three

The National League championship series is tied at 1-1 heading back to Philadelphia.

The Los Angeles Dodgers slipped by surrendering home field advantage, but all it takes is stealing one win from the Philadelphia Phillies to shift the balance of power back into their hands.
